Why to choose Jiji

Classified advertising, being a part of media space, has quickly and successfully changed its location. And moving to the Internet space with further creation of online marketplace was more than great idea. Take, for example, Jiji.ng. Today, it is the biggest Nigerian classifieds, but it started from an ordinary online shopping website. You can find a huge amount of items here sold at affordable prices, and advertisement here is much more effective than large scale advertising.

Of course, everything is not perfect. Classifieds attract scammers as well as they do people who want to sell or buy something. All we can say is that here they aren’t numerous. In addition to low prices, amazing selection and convenience in using, Jiji ensures maximal safety. All suspicious activity is tracked and those users are blocked. Actually, everyone can report about suspicious activity. Then it would be checked according to the set criteria. Besides, every user has to pass verification and always gets feedback from buyers. The list of detected scammers and information about them is available on the website.
To be precise, last year 20,000 users were blocked before they could spoil other people’s shopping. Among other impressive numbers – 400,000 newly registered users, half a million adverts, 150,000 calls to Toyota owners and 100,000 calls to users selling BlackBerries, over a half of successful deals and more than 36 million visitors on the website. Why to choose Jiji, you ask?

There may have been only two teams in the World Cup Final today, but Snapchat did something very interesting: the app manufacturer created a global “Our Story” dedicated to this year’s final game.

Every single user was able to upload their Snap to the game, creating a huge photo album for everyone who has the app to view.
Fans around the world were able to share their photos during Germany’s victory over Argentina today. Under “Recent Updates” users were given the option to post their pictures to “RioLive2014″, where an aggregate of all photos and videos were shared and viewable to all users in their friend’s lists.

Upcoming Play Store update with Material Design revealed

Android Police have revealed some screenshots that showcase what the next major version of Play Store on Android is going to look like. The design changes are based on the Material Design language that Google introduced at I/O this year.

What you see here are just product pages for all the different categories and how they will look on tablet and smartphones.

As you can tell, the Material Design guidelines put a lot of importance on having large hero images behind the product description, whenever available. In some cases, such as with games and movies, you can tap on the image to play the trailer.

The design is more spaced out, particularly on the tablet, with a significantly lower information density, at least when you first open the product page. On the smartphone, things are more or less the same, just rearranged for a cleaner look.

Google has been slowly changing its current apps for Material Design even before Android L has been released for a smoother transition. We have already seen the Google+, Google Sheets and Google Docs apps benefit from this redesign. The Play Store update is much more significant in comparison is therefore likely to arrive later along with Android L.

It’s important to note what you see above are from pre-release software and is not final. The design could change by the time it is actually released.

Raspberry Pi Model B+ brings neat new features, still costs $35

The Raspberry Pi Model B has been selling for over 2 years now and today the company behind the popular single-board computer has launched a new version called Raspberry Pi Model B+.
Raspberry Pi Model B+ photo from top
As you can deduce from the name of the new product, the Model B+ is not a big leap on features from its predecessor. It packs the same BCM2835 application processor and 512MB RAM, but there’s quite a few novelties.
For starters, there are now four USB 2.0 ports instead of only two, and the Raspberry Pi Foundation boasts them with better hotplug and overcurrent behavior. The traditional SD card slot has been replaced with a more compact push-push microSD card one.
The Model B+ has new switching regulators instead of linear ones, which helps it achieve between 0.5W and 1W lower power consumption. Finally, the audio has been improved with a dedicated low-noise power supply.
The Raspberry Pi Model B+ with its neater form factor and the aforementioned features comes at the same price as its predecessor – $35. Check out the video below to get more information from the makes of the board.

Ritot is a unique smart band concept with a built-in pico projector

You may have seen projection clocks, but what if you could wear one of those on your hand? That’s what the makers of Ritot are campaigning for on IndieGoGo – a smart band that uses a projector to cast a big, readable notifications on your wrist.

It has to be said the prototypes look much better than regular smart bands – an aluminum ring covered in leather, the Ritot can pass for a fashion accessory.
Touch the button or shake your wrist however and the built-in pico projector will activate and display messages, reminders, Facebook and Twitter messages, weather alerts and notifications from apps. The smart band will work with Android, iOS and Windows Phone smartphones.
It’s waterproof as well so you can take it jogging or swimming, there is even a dedicated sport version in the works (covered in plastic and rubber instead of metal and leather). However, neither version seems to work as even a simple step counter, let alone more advanced features like a heart rate monitor.

The battery is enough to last 150 hours in projection mode and 1 month in standby mode. It’s recharged wirelessly using the dedicated pad. The pad also displays the time and has a built-in alarm clock. It can also adjust the settings of the Ritot – you can puck between 20 projection colors, pick left or right-handed use.
The Ritot IndieGoGo campaign has passed its funding goal (it’s at 280% funded at the time of this writing). The finished product should ship in late January or February next year. You can back Ritot for $120 if you want one, $200 for two. The planned retail price after the campaign is $160 per unit.

As with all such crowd-funded campaigns you should keep in mind there’s a possibility of delays and even bigger issues (just ask Pressy backers).
