So is 'ripped chic' the next big thing? Alexa Chung's hemline appears to be making a bid for escape at Vogue dinner

She's known for her effortless style - even offering tips on how to achieve her laidback looks in her new book It.
However, perhaps Alexa Chung's latest look is a step too far after she arrived at the London Fashion Week Vogue dinner in what appeared to be a ripped dress.
Walking into the Balthazar restaurant in Covent Garden, the hemline of the TV presenter's
vintage-style velvet dress appeared to be coming away at the sides.

Arriving in a beige trenchcoat, the 29-year-old's looped hemline appeared to have ripped in several places.
However, given the holes were on both sides and on her sleeves, perhaps the 'tears' were a deliberate part of the design.
Meanwhile, Alexa wasn't the only one attracting attention with her sartorial choices - her model pal Pixie Geldof arrived in a very unique ensemble.

The rock offspring was wearing what appeared to be a pink bandeau dress fused with a blue negligee.
Pixie's close friend, model Daisy Lowe, was on to her fourth outfit of the day - a black dress with sheer panels.
Earlier that day she had worn a plunging purple number to the Jonathan Saunders show, a jumper and skirt of Topshop Unique and a pink dress to L'Wren Scott.

One of the main attractions at the party was Victoria Beckham, making her first London Fashion Week appearance.
The mother-of-four wore culottes, T-shirt and sleeveless knit from her Spring/Summer 2014 collection as she arrived solo at the party.
Also mingling with the fashionistas was actress Sienna Miller, who turned up with designer Matthew Williamson after earlier watching his catwalk show.

The blonde wore a pretty white dress with a leopard-print coat and stayed close to good pal Matthew.
As expected, one of the big names in attendance at the Vogue dinner was the US edition of the magazine's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The publishing giant, 63, looked chic in a black and white floral-print dress, which she teamed with a long teal leather coat with fur cuffs.
Also decided to keep covered up for her big entrance was model Sophie Dahl, who wore a black coat over her dress.

Although a host of female celebrities were in attendance, the male fashion contingent was represented by male model David Gandy and retail tycoon Sir Philip Green.
No doubt Sir Philip, 61, was in high spirits following the stellar turnout for his Topshop Unique fashion show earlier on Sunday.
Joining Sir Philip on the front row at Topshop was Kate Moss, US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna, Daisy, Pixie, Ellie, Samantha Barks and Sadie Frost.
