Birthday boy James Buckley and his heavily pregnant wife Clair watch Alpha Papa at cinema

He missed out on a role in Steve Coogan's new film Alpha Papa after being too nervous at the audition.
However, self-confessed 'Coogan geek' James Buckley couldn't wait to see the movie anyway as he went to the cinema for his 26th birthday.

The Inbetweeners star and his heavily-pregnant wife Clair were spotted enjoying the low-key birthday celebrations at a cinema near their London home.

Despite not being cast in the Alan Partridge comedy film, James wasn't too proud to admit he had tried his luck, but failed.
He tweeted on Wednesday: 'Off to see Alpha Papa this afternoon with my wife for my birthday! :).
'I read for a part in Alpha Papa. Embarrassingly I'm such a Coogan geek I was literally star struck of (sic) the script. Was V nervous, I wasn't cast.'
Following the screening, James tweeted a Coogan reference: 'Right im gonna have some lady boys for my birthday .... partridge fans will get that.'

Earlier on Wednesday, his former model wife posted a romantic message: 'Happy Birthday to my husband! An amazing, generous, handsome, handsome man! I love you with all my heart @James_Buckley xxxx.'
James and Clair announced in March they were expecting a baby brother for their 21-month-old son Harrison.
The couple married in Clair's native Scotland in November with his Inbetweeners co-stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison in attendance.

James confirmed earlier this month he would be reprising his role as sex-obsessed teenager Jay Cartwright in the Inbetweeners movie sequel.
All four castmembers are back for the 2014 follow-up to the 2011 hit movie, which saw Jay, Simon, Neil and Will go to Malia, Crete, for a lads' holiday.
Earlier this month, James responded to some criticism on Twitter from two fans who expected him to be loud and crude like his Inbetweeners character in real-life.
He tweeted: 'I think people expect me to be some crazy teenager, I'm actually quite shy. Sorry I disappointed you.
'I'm not sure how I'm arrogant tho. No one has a lower opinion of myself than me!'
