Is Hannah on a diet? Lena Dunham is spotted shovelling salad into her mouth as she films series three of GIRLS

As the spirited, sassy and sometimes pretty selfish anti-heroine of HBO's GIRLS, we've come to learn one thing about Hannah Horvath... the young woman hasn't a sensible idea in her head.
And that pertains to her diet, which in the first two series seemed consist squarely of cupcakes and chips, washed down with a bit of beer and in one episode, a barrel load of drugs.
But all that could be about to change as Lena Dunham was spotted shovelling salad into her mouth as she filmed series three near Gramercy Park in Manhattan.

Dressed in a pretty retro blouse and blue jeans, Dunham looked smarter than usually does when playing the aspiring writer with the haphazard love life.
She carried a neat satchel with Hannah's initials embossed upon it.
Her hair was shaped into a neat bob that offered not even the merest suggestion of the unruly curls we associate with her character.
Who is this person? Smart, together and eating salad... what's happened to our Hannah?

Serious face: Hannah was also glued to the phone in these scenes, but to who? Fans can't wait to see if she reunited with on/off boyfriend Adam for good

Dunham, 26 has been busy, and has also been participating in artist's Miranda July's newest project We Think Alone, an email-based series that analyses how we present ourselves differently in person and online.
We Think Alone' sends emails each week from a celebrity's email; and Dunham's to a friend was incredibly moving.
The Huffington Post reproduced her missive to a friend suffering in romance.

She wrote: 'Listen to me. I am a woman who loves and adores and, I believe, understands you. You did nothing wrong.
'He is NOT NICE. He says not nice things in a nice voice so they seem nice but they are not. He isn't kind or careful with you, he wants to suck the kindness out of you, and if he's like this after 10 years of group therapy then G-d help us all.
'He's not for you bc he's not for anyone. Do you hear me?
'Good. I understand SO much the appeal, but he's not worth your energy and someone like art guy may not be perfect or right but he's starting on a good foot by offering some of himself to you and wanting to give you pleasureful times.'
