has endured a difficult time over the past few months as she continues
to battle cancer while coping with the loss of her youngest daughter
Nancy to a suspected drug overdose in February.
And the Oscar winning actress is trying her best to help Betty Lou through it, most recently taking her mother to church in Los Angeles on Friday.
Julia, 46, looked a far cry from her usual glamorous self as she opted for a casual outfit, no make-up and messy hair for the church visit with her mother, who was smiling despite having to walk with the help of a cane.
The duo stopped to talk to a priest after the service and Julia flashed her trademark huge smile as they exchanged a few words.
Caring Julia supported her mother by holding on to her arm as they made their way slowly from the building.
A 'cancerous tumour' was reportedly found on Betty Lou's lung during a routine MRI scan in November but it was only revealed in February following Nancy's death.
They have been united in grief and Julia and Betty Lou, 79, seem to be finding much solace in each other's company.
Julia cancelled a number of public engagements following her sister's death in order to spend time with her family.
