Gwyneth Paltrow loves to tell her readers how to eat, exercise and shop on her blog GOOP.
Turns out, the Iron Man actress was also giving orders to her husband of 10 years, according to UsWeekly, and her controlling ways are what led to their late March split.
Chris Martin felt like being with the 41-year-old Oscar winner 'was like living with a bossy school teacher or etiquette coach,' a friend told the weekly. Even more painful were the nasty names the beauty would hurl at the British musician, like 'moron.'
'Gwyneth would snipe at Chris and say things to him like, "You're such a moron,"' added the friend.
'For a long time they balanced each other out, but she was a control freak. Chris couldn't take it anymore.'
Some of that control was over what the family ate.
The Shakespeare In Love actress wanted the whole clan - including daughter Apple, aged nine, and son Moses, aged eight - on a low carb, gluten free diet that would leave them with a 'specific hunger,' as she once described it.
'They butted heads over parenting,' said the friend.
While Gwyneth preferred that her daughter never touch a Cheeto, Chris was fine with the kids indulging in ice cream once in a while.
He insistence at a cleaner life 'annoyed' the Grammy favorite.
Often he would 'roll his eyes at her.'
Another friend argued to the weekly that the daughter of actress Blythe Danner is really just like any other parent, however.
'She likes to keep them busy with activities. Many parents follow the same policy.'
Tension also built when they lived in London, a place an insider said the Vogue cover girl 'hates.'
While in England, the two lived in separate houses. Martin took the one next door as Paltrow lived in the main one with the kids.
'He came to the family house in the morning to take the kids to school,' a source said. 'They would cross paths sometimes, but were rarely in the same room.'
Their marriage became more of a 'friendship' and then the cheating rumors started. He was linked to Kate Hudson, Kate Bosworth and Alexa Chung. Hudson and Chung have denied they were nothing more than friends with the songwriter.
'Chris talked to her about the temptations on the road,' an insider pointed out.
Gwyneth was linked to billionaire Jeffrey Soffer and attorney Kevin Yorn, but those reports have been denied.
