Suffering for his art! Zayn Malik has his vast array of tattoos covered up as he plays a woman in One Direction's new video

He stunned fans with his incredibly realistic portrayal of a sexy secretary in the new One Direction video Best Song Ever.
But in order to make himself look as convincing as possible in the role, Zayn Malik was forced to entirely cover his vast array of tattoos.
A new video of the band preparing for the shoot shows make-up artists having to apply heavy make-up over Zayn's designs in order not to detract from his appearance as female office assistant Veronica.

In an exclusive from ITV breakfast show Daybreak, the star was filmed seated topless, exposing a plethora of intricately-designed tattoos across his chest, back and arms on July 29.
A make-up artist then, with a spray gun in hand, proceeded to spray a tan-coloured liquid on top of Zayn's bird tattoo at the top of his back.
By the end of the spray tan, which covered his torso, Zayn appeared far more tanned as viewers caught a sneak preview of the band's latest music video called Best Song Ever.

Zayn, as Veronica, sported a wavy brunette mane, a fake bosom and a tight-fitting blue shirt.
Taking the role very seriously, he also wears sultry, heavy eye makeup, some sexy cat eye spectacles, gold earrings and a necklace.
In earlier images the star seemed to be loving his new look, pouting for the camera and gyrating his hips to the music.

Meanwhile, Harry Styles was willing to sacrifice his looks for the sake of his art and allowed his hair to be messed with for the video.
The star wore his hair gelled back into a retro style quiff which was a dramatic change from his trademark curls. 
Looking a far cry from his usual cool and stylish self the 19-year-old is pulling an amusing wide grin while striking a pose.

Wearing a pair of tight fitting trousers Harry completed his look with a knitted waistcoat, shirt and tie.
In fact the only aspect of his alter ego which easily identifies the pop star is his perfect white teeth, which are fully on display as he grins.

Niall Horan has been transformed into an Alan Sugar type businessman for the video, with rubber prosthetics, a false beard and a sober pin-stripe suit.
The fresh-faced teen looked old enough to be someone’s granddad by the time professional make-up artists were done with him, and he wasted no time in getting down to business by roaring orders down a very eighties looking telephone.
