There was nothing studious or buttoned up about the character who launched a thousand layer cuts, and most of Jennifer Aniston's subsequent characters have followed her glamorous lead.
But the 44-year-old has looked dowdier in a short wig on the set of her new film, Squirrels to the Nuts, in New York... and on Thursday, a pair of unflattering glasses added to this effect.

Jennifer is filming the hotly anticipated movie alongside Owen Wilson, Cybill Shepherd and Eugene Levy.
The comedy is about a Broadway director who falls in love with a prostitute-turned actress and helps her with her career.
The star has been spotted on set wearing a mousy brown wig, tailored suits and sensible shoes.
But over the weekend she took some time out to enjoy a couple of days off with her fiance Justin.
On Saturday night the couple were seen taking their mothers Nancy Dow and Phyllis Grissim-Theroux out for dinner in the Big Apple.

The tanned and toned couple were as casually dressed as always when they arrived at the Loews Lincoln Square movie theatre in Manhattan's Upper West Side to see the Adam Sandler ensemble comedy.
Dressed in army green jeans and a black vest top, the former Friends star followed behind her hunky lover as he led the way through the sweltering city streets. 
The director and screen writer wore a similar casual outfit of a grey and yellow tank top - which showed off his bulging muscles - and jeans.

Holly Candy is five months pregnant with her first child with billionaire husband Nick

Holly Candy is expecting her first child with her billionaire husband Nick, it has been revealed.
Details of the former Neighbours star's pregnancy emerged when she launched a court case in an attempt to stop Australia's Woman's Day magazine from publishing pictures taken of her which clearly revealed the baby news.
The images are said to have been taken of the 30-year-old actress as she holidayed on the Italian Riviera last month.

Holly sought an injunction when she discovered the images had been sold to the magazine by a London photo agency, and attempted to prevent them from being used.
Lawyers employed by the expectant parents then got involved, with the photo agency issuing a retraction.
However, Woman's Day magazine proceeded to print the pictures, with 27,870 copies of the magazine sent out to subscribers when it was printed on Friday.

Justice Michael Pembroke said in his ruling that due to the publication of the magazine, it was impossible to then get the injunction.
He said: 'If the objective of the plaintiff is to protect her own opportunity to reveal the fact of her pregnancy at a time of her choosing, then that opportunity has been lost by the events which have occurred.
'There is no point in restraining the defendant from further distributing copies that remain as part of the print run for this issue.'
Justice Pembroke added in his judgement: 'I make it quite clear that the conduct of the defendant is disdainful. It clearly puts a premium on its own commercial advantage ahead of the privacy of the plaintiff.'

In an interview with You magazine in May, when Holly would have already been three months pregnant, she said she was desperate to have a family.

'Finally at 30 I am coming round to the idea of babies and Nick, at 40, is well and truly ready. I think he might just get his way. I can see it now: I will be the bad cop – the strict one – and he will be the fabulous, fun dad!'
Holly's pregnancy news comes just ten months after the actress wed property developer Nick in an extravagant ceremony.
The pair are said to have paid out a staggering £3million for their fairytale ceremony.

Jessica and Eric are now eager to marry - but she wants to slim down first.

'Whenever the doctors give me the go-ahead, I’ll start training,' Simpson tells People magazine.

'I’m anxious to have my body back for myself, but I have to be patient. I don’t know how long it’s going to take, but I’m planning on working hard.'

She's not exactly known for her quiet nights in, preferring to hit the town in skintight dresses.
But Chelsee Healey's had a rather abrupt end to her night out on Wednesday as she reportedly the victim of an 'unprovoked attack' inside DSTRKT nightclub.
Ending up in tears as she spoke with police on the side of the road at 2.30am, the 24-year-old looked like she'd had an eventful evening as she clung onto her friends.

The party girl and Tulisa's BFF seemed distraught as she left the central London hangout in the early hours, unable to hold back her tears.

But it seems that Chelsee wanted to get her side of the story across to the two police officers who arrived, pictured speaking to them as a friend looked on.
