Curl power! Rihanna goes back to her natural wave with a drastic (and demure) new haircut

She has become well known for changing her hair colour and style with eye-catching regularity, mainly using wigs and extensions.
 And Rihanna has done it again - but this time appears to have plumped for a somewhat softer look.
The 25-year-old singer stepped out on Thursday showing off her new short and curly hairstyle, matching her more natural wavy hair.

The star deputed her new hairdo on a shopping trip to a Neil Lane jewellery store in West Hollywood on Thursday, along with posting several photographs of herself on Instagram.
The new shorter style was a marked departure from her recent tour image, where she appeared on stage in a series of dramatic long colourful wigs.
With her hair slicked down with gel, Rihanna's curls were tucked behind her ear, with some loose tendrils escaping, while she showed off her toned flat stomach in a grey crop top and black jeans.

However, the star has admitted she is still getting acquainted with her new style.
'Still tryna get used to my hurr, so I threw on some #redlipstick,' she wrote on her Twitter page on Tuesday.
She also tweeted several other shots of herself showing her new barnet looking impeccable despite revealing she was talking some 'morning pictures.'
One showed her with a backwards baseball cap over her new curls, while another featured her topless with just a diamond necklace and earrings.

Her love of jewellery was made even clearer in another shot which featured the star with an armful of gold and silver bracelets and a glittering necklace. 
Currently on a two-month break from her Diamonds world tour, Rihanna was clearly enjoying taking the opportunity to update her image after jetting in from Europe.
She will travel east next month for shows in Macau, Manila and Singapore.

Despite making the most of her temporary break from the tour, Rihanna has ruled out catching up with old flame Chris Brown while she kicks back in Los Angeles.

‘She’s cool without him. She was Rihanna before him. No shade, but it’s cool. She loves him and wants him to be great.'

Several of his friends and former lovers have expressed their delight, and in many cases shock, following the revelation that Simon Cowell is due to be a father.
But Paula Abdul is not one of them.
The singer kept mum as she stepped out in Beverly Hills on Thursday after the rumours emerged.

The 51-year-old is one of the music mogul’s close pals and appeared alongside him on the judging panel for eight seasons on American Idol and one season on X Factor.
Paula kept a low profile as she left a hair salon and hopped into her car alongside her assistant, covering her make-up free face with large round sunglasses.
It is not known if Paula has spoken to Simon in the wake of the news, or if she can confirm it is true, but the star was wearing something of a knowing smile.

And when a reporter asked, 'The new baby. Were you as surprised by the news as we were?' the British born reality TV mogul replied, 'I haven't read the newspapers. Am I missing something?'

After the news broke on Wednesday that 36-year-old Lauren is expecting Simon, who is worth an estimated $305 million, insisted he will do everything he can to support and provide for his child, according to reports.
It has now emerged that Mrs Silverman’s husband, Andrew, has cited Cowell in divorce papers, in a move which could potentially force him to reveal details of the alleged affair in court.
Lauren, who has a seven-year-old child with Andrew is accused in the recently filed papers of adultery with Cowell and of being ‘cruel and inhuman’ towards her husband.

'I have moved on in my life and could not be happier now': Shakira celebrates as $100 million lawsuit by ex-boyfriend Antonio de la Rua is rejected by Superior Court judge

Shakira has said she 'could not be happier' after a $100million lawsuit filed by her ex-boyfriend was dismissed by a Superior Court judge.
The 36-year-old singer was hit with the lawsuit by former partner, Antonio de la Rua, who claimed he helped build the star's brand throughout their 11-year relationship, and was the brains behind a number of her hits.
But a Los Angeles judge has now dismissed the claims and shut down de la Rua's hope of gaining a 'partnership' interest in the Colombian starlet's income, according to court documents obtained by E! Online.
Describing the ongoing legal situation as tantamount to 'harassment', mother-of-one Shakira admitted she was 'very grateful' her ex would not be able to proceed with his battle.
She said in a statement: 'I am very grateful that the courts are not allowing these groundless lawsuits to proceed.
'I have moved on in my life and could not be happier now. I hope this harassment will now come to an end.'
The $100 million lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles on April 12, after a $250 million claim was initally filed against the singer in New York in November 2012.
Shakira's legal team filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit on March 28 on the grounds that she and de la Rua are Columbian and Argentinian citizens respectively, meaning the court did not have jurisdiction over the proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Hips Don't Lie hitmaker noted that she and her ex had signed a 'prenuptial-type agreement applicable to unmarried couples' in 2006, in which they 'expressly manifested their wish to conserve, each separately, the totality of their  past, current and future assets'.

Last month, a judge in Geneva, Switzerland rejected an application from Shakira's ex-boyfriend seeking rights to one of her bank accounts, stating the singer is the sole owner of the account.

Shakira's attorney, Ezequiel Camerini, said in a statement at the time: 'In a fifteen page well-reasoned opinion the Swiss court dismissed all of Mr. de la Rúa's claims that he was entitled to any participation in Shakira's past, current or future business, brand or assets, including future income.'
de la Rua worked as one of Shakira's business advisers after the pair dated. He claims he and Shakira established an oral agreement to work professionally following their romantic split in 2011.
The judge stated that de la Rua does not have enough evidence to prove the two reached a professional agreement and that there are no written agreements in existence.
De La Rua has been waging an international fight against the Colombian singer for some time, claiming he shaped the 'Shakira brand', filing lawsuits in both New York and Los Angeles.

As they were: de la Rua dated Shakira, whose songs include Hips Don't Lie, for more than a decade and worked on some of her business deals

He is the son of former Argentine President Fernando de la Rua, and dated Shakira for more than a decade until they parted ways in January 2011.
Shakira has previously said she only hired her then boyfriend out of pity, and he was just one of her numerous advisors.
'I was already a well-known and recognised artist, and my international career was established and solid,' the singer said of when she first met her ex at a concert in 2000.
Antonio has claimed he talked her into recording hit Hips Don't Lie, which she initially 'hated,' and arranged her $300 million deal with LiveNation in 2008.
While there is no love lost between the former lovers, Shakira has since moved on and is now in a relationship with soccer player Gerard Pique. The pair had their first child, Milan Pique Mebarak, in January.
