Saturday night's launch show of Strictly saw the celebrity contestants paired up with their professional dance partners, as well as musical entertainment from stars including Rod Stewart and Jessie J.

'Happier than ever' Simon Cowell steps out with ex-fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy... as it's revealed his baby with Lauren Silverman will be 'born in the UK'
He might be having a baby with socialite Lauren Silverman, but Simon Cowell's former flames are still very much in his life.
The music mogul's ex-fiancé Mezhgan Hussainy, who still works as his make-up artist, accompanied him to a taping session of The X Factor USA on Saturday, as news emerged that his child is set to be born in the UK.
Although 36-year-old socialite Lauren is American and lives in New York, the pair have agreed it is best for the baby to be born in Simon's native country because it fits in with his Britain's Got Talent filming schedule.
An insider told the Sunday People newspaper: 'He is thrilled that the baby will be born in England. He and Lauren have taken the decision based on what is best for the baby and they've chosen the UK.
'Because Simon has to be in the UK for BGT at the time, it is the only option. He wants to be at Lauren's side when she gives birth and wants to be with his son after he's born.'
The 53-year-old star also opened up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in an interview to air on Tuesday and admitted news of Lauren's pregnancy was a 'shocker'.
He said: 'That was a bit of a shocker. When you first get the call, it's like, OK, put the phone down, gulp. And then I got used to the idea.'
Referring to the fact that Lauren was still married to husband Andrew when news of her pregnancy broke, Simon added: 'It was kind of uncomfortable, you know, the situation. But these things happen and everything i kind of calm now and I'm happy. I'm actually happier than I've ever been. Everything's fine now and Lauren's adorable.'
He also used the opportunity as a chance to hit back at disparaging rumours about his baby mama, Lauren - insisting she's not a gold-digger.
He said: 'I obviously can’t blame the media - it was kind of what I call a juicy story. But there was a lot of stuff that was said about her: that she trapped me and that she’s a gold-digger.
'It's absolute nonsense. She’s a great girl but, like I said, it was awkward because of the circumstances.'
Cowell also refused to confirm the gender of his baby, despite reports that he and Lauren are expecting a little boy.
'And it’s a boy?' Ellen asked him, to which Simon replied: 'You’ll have to wait and see.'
He then added: 'Well, there are a lot of boys in my family so the odds are...'
Meanwhile, it has emerged that Lauren and Simon are now in the middle of planning a £1.27million interview deal with Oprah Winfrey.
The pair are said to be 'seriously considering' a two-hour interview special on Oprah's OWN network, with the Sunday Express suggesting the show would air during the third season of The X Factor USA, which premieres on Wednesday.
If the interview goes ahead the couple are set to receive a reported £1.27million fee - which is remarkably close to the amount of money Lauren lost out on during her divorce battle with Andrew.
According to reports, the judge awarded Lauren with only half of the money she had been expecting through her prenuptial agreement, in exchange for her retaining full custody of her and Andrew's seven-year-old son Adam.
A source said of the reported Oprah deal: 'Simon wants Lauren to keep every penny they make from any interviews. It’s his pretty neat way of making sure she gets the cash she felt she was entitled to from her marriage.'
Meanwhile, Simon continued to receive more well-wishes from his celebrity pals as he appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Friday.
'I've known you what, 12 or 15 years? I never thought I'd say this: congratulations! You're going to be a dad! That's amazing!' veteran talkshow host Leno gushed.
'Am I? Yeah, that was a bit of a shocker. When you first get the call, it's like, OK, put the phone down, gulp. And then I got used to the idea. The circumstances were a bit awkward...' Simon said as he pulled an hilarious facial expression that summed up the awkwardness perfectly.
Fellow guest, comedian Adam Carolla, couldn't resist giving the notorious lothario a bit of a dig, though it was all in good spirits and the 53-year-old enjoyed a good laugh at his own expense.
'The revolving door of hot stepmoms coming through... Oh what a life!' Adam teased the father-to-be.
Still remaining coy on whether baby Cowell is a boy or girl, the star would only confirm that it's, 'One of the two.'
'Gimme a clue: does it have testicles?' Jay pressed.
'That would kind of be giving it away,' the Brit replied, to which the host was quick to respond, 'Well not in LA!'
While he managed not to spill the closely-guarded secret, Cowell admitted, 'I do know what it is,' before talking about his hopes for his offspring.
'If it's a boy, I kind of hope he turns out like me as I was older, not when I was child - cause when I was a child I was obnoxious,' he laughed.

Mummy's lucky mascot! Harper Beckham sits on David's lap front row at Victoria's New York Fashion Week show
She's a regular fixture at her mother's fashion shows, and has become something of a lucky mascot over the past two years.
So when it came to allocating seats for Victoria Beckham's New York Fashion Week show on Saturday, her daughter Harper had pride of place on the front row.
The adorable two-year-old was seen sitting with her father David as the pair watched designs from the hugely talented Spice Girl-turned-designer walk the runway.
Harper looked picture perfect for the occasion in a pale blue baby Chloé summer dress, with her long hair tied up in a bun, and little pumps, as she sat on her father's lap.
In fact, the little girl was so cute in her ensemble that even Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour was seen giving her an indulgent smile as Harper chatted away to her.
Former footballer David, meanwhile, looked as dapper as ever in a dark suit, pale blue shirt and skinny tie as he proudly watched his wife's work come to life on the catwalk.
Victoria, 39, has been working incredibly hard in preparation for the Spring/Summer 14 show, taking place during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Tweeting a number of photos on Saturday, the multi-talented star appeared to be pushing herself hard as she ensured everything was show ready for the New York fashion elite.
She told her six million followers that she was expecting a 'A long night ahead #SS14', and posted a photo of one of her colleagues working hard on a sewing machine.
But Victoria also looked as if the long hours were taking their toll when she posted 'Keep out, I'm stressed!' on her Instagram page.
In backstage pictures before the show, Victoria was seen wearing an oversized white shirt, cropped trousers and black heels as she made last-minute adjustments to the models.
Following the models strutting their stuff on the runway, Victoria made an incredibly brief appearance on the catwalk herself, posing for a matter of seconds before she dashed off.
Other stars to make an appearance at the highly-anticipated show included pregnant Rachel Zoe.

Miss World moved to Bali after Muslim protests in Jakarta
Indonesian Muslim hardliners have resumed protests against the
Miss World pageant as organisers said the event would go on as scheduled
this weekend on the resort island of Bali.
In Jakarta, the capital, about 1,000 members of the hardline Islamic group Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia rallied outside the building housing the local organiser of the contest.
Chanting "Allah akbar" (God is great), the protesters, mostly women, waved banners reading "Miss World Culture Liberalisation Campaign" and "Reject Miss World".
There were also protests in the Sumatran cities of Medan and Pekanbaru, and in Makassar, in Sulawesi. Protesters gathered at council buildings, calling on the government to revoke the permit for the contest.
The organiser, MNC media group, said it was not possible to cancel the contest or move the venue, and said the government had given assurances that it would provide security and protection for the event.
"I think there is a misunderstanding," Hary Tanoesoedibjo, head of MNC, said in Bali on Wednesday. "I assure that there will be nothing that runs against our culture. I would not accept if there was a bikini show."
The chair of the Miss World Organisation, Julia Morley, had earlier confirmed that none of the contestants would wear a bikini.
The competition will be held partly on Bali, with the final round set for 28 September on the outskirts of Jakarta.
Budi Rusmanto, an organiser in Jakarta, said: "The contest will not be different from other beauty pageants in Indonesia. The only difference is the participants."
Rejection of the event has come not only from hardline groups but also from the country's most influential group of clerics, the Indonesia Ulema Council, whose fatwas are followed by many devoted Muslims.
Last week the council urged the government to cancel the event, saying the exposure of skin by women in such a competition violated Islamic teachings.
Most Muslims in Indonesia are moderate but a small extremist fringe has become more vocal in recent years.
On Wednesday, hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Surabaya, Indonesia's second largest city, and Bandung, the West Java capital. On Tuesday, hundreds rallied in Jakarta.
The Islamic Defenders Front, a hardline group with a long record of vandalising nightspots, hurling stones at western embassies and attacking rival religious groups, has pledged to disrupt the event if it is allowed to be held in Indonesia.

Watch out for the gunge! Pixie Lott stands out in lemon and pink at Nickelodeon's Fruit Shoot Skills Awards
There was plenty of gunge on in store
at Nickelodeon’s Fruit Shoot Skills Awards in London on Saturday, but
there was also plenty of glamour thanks to host of stars, amongst them
Pixie Lott.
The 22-year-old singer stood out on the orange carpet at IndigoO2 in a stunning, figure-hugging mini-dress adorned with lemon and pink patterns.
Pixie complimented the outfit by painting her nails a matching shade of yellow, while her gold shoes and liberal use of mascara, blusher and bright red lipstick added an additional wash of colour to an already distinctive look.
The singer later took to the stage at the event, but fortunately for her she managed to avoid the gunge unlike hapless diver Tom Daley, who found himself covered from head to toe in the sticky green goo.
Indeed, Tom’s immaculate hair and smart two piece suit were ruined thanks to the Nickelodeon staple – commonly used to cover celebs at the annual Kids Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
While the 19-year-old Olympian had the misfortune to get slimed, other attending stars managed to stay gunge free.
Indeed, amongst those avoiding the mess were X Factor finalists Union J, who attended the event almost a year after they were brought together as a band during the last series of the ITV show.
Alexandra Burke, another X Factor product, was also in attendance – opting to arrive in a simple but stylish white dress and black stiletto heels.
The 25-year-old singer was joined by JLS star Oritse Williams, with the pair making a young award winner’s day by posing alongside him for a photograph shortly after he received his prize.
Gymnast Louis Smith also made an appearance, taking to the stage with a casual looking Laura Whitmore to present an award.
Saturday’s event follows the enormous success of last year’s inaugural awards ceremony, which honours British children with prodigious skill in street-dancing, skateboarding and BMXing.
The show is expected to be broadcast on Nickelodeon on Sunday at 5pm.
