So is 'ripped chic' the next big thing? Alexa Chung's hemline appears to be making a bid for escape at Vogue dinner

She's known for her effortless style - even offering tips on how to achieve her laidback looks in her new book It.
However, perhaps Alexa Chung's latest look is a step too far after she arrived at the London Fashion Week Vogue dinner in what appeared to be a ripped dress.
Walking into the Balthazar restaurant in Covent Garden, the hemline of the TV presenter's
vintage-style velvet dress appeared to be coming away at the sides.

Arriving in a beige trenchcoat, the 29-year-old's looped hemline appeared to have ripped in several places.
However, given the holes were on both sides and on her sleeves, perhaps the 'tears' were a deliberate part of the design.
Meanwhile, Alexa wasn't the only one attracting attention with her sartorial choices - her model pal Pixie Geldof arrived in a very unique ensemble.

The rock offspring was wearing what appeared to be a pink bandeau dress fused with a blue negligee.
Pixie's close friend, model Daisy Lowe, was on to her fourth outfit of the day - a black dress with sheer panels.
Earlier that day she had worn a plunging purple number to the Jonathan Saunders show, a jumper and skirt of Topshop Unique and a pink dress to L'Wren Scott.

One of the main attractions at the party was Victoria Beckham, making her first London Fashion Week appearance.
The mother-of-four wore culottes, T-shirt and sleeveless knit from her Spring/Summer 2014 collection as she arrived solo at the party.
Also mingling with the fashionistas was actress Sienna Miller, who turned up with designer Matthew Williamson after earlier watching his catwalk show.

The blonde wore a pretty white dress with a leopard-print coat and stayed close to good pal Matthew.
As expected, one of the big names in attendance at the Vogue dinner was the US edition of the magazine's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The publishing giant, 63, looked chic in a black and white floral-print dress, which she teamed with a long teal leather coat with fur cuffs.
Also decided to keep covered up for her big entrance was model Sophie Dahl, who wore a black coat over her dress.

Although a host of female celebrities were in attendance, the male fashion contingent was represented by male model David Gandy and retail tycoon Sir Philip Green.
No doubt Sir Philip, 61, was in high spirits following the stellar turnout for his Topshop Unique fashion show earlier on Sunday.
Joining Sir Philip on the front row at Topshop was Kate Moss, US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna, Daisy, Pixie, Ellie, Samantha Barks and Sadie Frost.

Lauren Silverman puts a protective hand on her bump on lunch date... as it's revealed she sent message of reassurance to Simon Cowell's harem

Following their romantic reunion on the French Riviera last month, Simon Cowell and his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman have spent the past few weeks on opposite coasts of the U.S.
While the music mogul has been busy working on his TV show in Los Angeles, the expectant brunette has been taking care of her son, who is at school in New York.
Despite the distance between them, it appears Lauren is very much happy with the state of their romance as she stepped out in Manhattan a few days ago.

The divorcee, 36, looked glowing as she rubbed her bump protectively as she lunched with relatives at Cafe Classico in Midtown on Thursday.
Currently four months pregnant, the mother-of-one showed off her changing figure in a black wrap dress, which she teamed with a pair of silver sandals.
Lauren was spotted out and about as it emerged she contacted members of Simon's harem of ex-girlfriends in attempt to soothe over any tensions between them.

After years as just another member of the group of women, Lauren is now in prime position as girlfriend and future mother to the 53-year-old mogul's child.
News of Lauren and Simon's affair and her subsequent pregnancy was said to have rocked the close-knit group when news first became public on July 31.
When the news first broke, Sinitta, 49, appeared to tweet about the situation, writing that something had happened that was 'half miracle, half nightmare'.
Following suggestions Lauren was a 'gold-digger', she decided to sent each women a text message insisting she was genuinely in love with Simon, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Although Lauren intended the message to the likes of Sinitta, Mezhgan Hussainy and Jackie St Clair was intended as friendly, some of the women remain unsure.
A source told The Sunday Mirror: 'It was a nice try by Lauren but she’ll have to try harder. She can’t just come in and expect to be everybody’s best friend, not when Simon’s girlfriends have known him for years before she was even on the scene.
'They all care about him and want to protect him – and they’re still sceptical about her motives. She’s trying to keep her enemies close.'

Earlier this month, Simon spoke about his romance with Lauren - who was married to now ex-husband Andrew when they first starting dating - and his impending fatherhood.
He told Ellen DeGeneres: 'Because everyone knows, it was well documented, it was kind of uncomfortable. You know, the situation.
'But these things happen and everything is kind of calm now and I'm happy. I'm actually happier than I've ever been.
'I can't blame the media because they've got a juicy story, but there was a lot of stuff said about her, that she trapped me and that she's a gold digger. Absolute nonsense. She's a great girl, but it was awkward because of the circumstances.'
He also made a rare public declaration of love, telling People: 'I love her and I love the fact that I'm having this baby.'

Like mother, like son! Kourtney Kardashian steps out in matching tops with Mason while Penelope is an adorable flower girl

She is known for her love of fashion having collaborated with her sisters on a successful clothing line.
And it looks as though Kourtney Kardashian is hands-on when it comes to dressing her children, too.
The 34-year-old mother of two looked in a cool and calm mood as she stepped out in LA with her brood.

There was no mistaking the similarity between Kourtney and her son Mason as they both wore striped tops.
Breaking the striped theme however was her adorable daughter Penelope, who looked pretty in a flower dress.
The family were out and about in LA on Sunday attending a children's birthday party at a gym.

Mason looked eager to arrive early as he marched ahead carrying his Lego toys.
Their father Scott Disick was no present however.
Yesterday, it what could be described as a new low for the family, Scott took to his Instagram account to post numerous pictures of him posing with bundles of cash.
The entrepreneur clearly had nothing better to do with his time than pose with some of his estimated $12 million fortune.
In one grainy photo he grabs a fistful of bills and holds them to his ear as if they are a cell phone.

In another shot, the flashy father-of-two piles up money, expensive watches and diamond encrusted jewellery.
Others show bags filled with thousands of dollars.
The self-proclaimed Lord Disick has always known money - his family come from a line of wealthy real estate developers.

But he never seems to tire of reminding everyone just how rich he is.
His collection of expensive cars being his biggest indulgence.
Scott is the proud owner of both a white and a yellow convertible Rolls Royce, a Lamborghini Murcielago and chrome Audi R8 amongst others.

The fifth judge! The X Factor audience help save Stephanie Woods while making their jeering presence felt at Wembley

Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger may be sitting in the judge's chair, but it seems there is a fifth opinionated voice forcing itself to be heard at The X Factor auditions.
The 12,500 strong audience have been cheering and jeering with every performance, but proving to be most vocal when they don't agree with the judges.
And thankfully their united call helped Stephanie Woods make her way to boot camp after a duff first performance.
Fighting for her: The audience helped save Stephanie Woods from leaving The X Factor
Fighting for her: The audience helped save Stephanie Woods from leaving The X Factor

The all-grown-up Stephanie - who got to Judges' houses aged 14, six years ago - took to the stage hoping that this year would be her year.
After reducing Sharon to tears last time, Steph - who has been working as a resort entertainer - hoped for the same sort of emotional reaction to her version of Celine Dion's I Could Have Drove All Night
But she didn't get past the first chorus before Gary stopped the performance, totally unimpressed with the song choice.

'It was too dated,' the Take That star said. Tears flowed from her eyes, as the crowd called to give her the chance to sing something else.
This time she went with Fleetwood Mac's Songbird and totally changed the judges' mind.
Although Gary did criticise her choice to go for yet another old track, but admitted that she was 'too good a singer to let go.'
Tearful: After Gary Barlow stopped her mid-performance, the hopeful began crying as she thought her chance was gone

Sadly for James MacDonald, the audience's boos didn't help him get a second change with the judges.
James went from singing to the passengers on his Nottingham bus route to the packed crowd at Wembley with his rendition of Daniel Merriweather's Red.
Gary said he was 'a little bit disappointed with that performance' and his voice sounded 'generic'.

To a chorus of boos each judge gave their verdict of no, except for Nicole who said she believed in him.
Walking off stage with tears in his eyes, James walked into the arms of his mother who let him know that she was still proud of him.
The judges and the audience fail to see eye to eye, booing and jeering everytime they said no to a X Factor hopeful.
End of the line: The judges weren't impressed with James MacDonald's second audition so he was sent back to Nottingham

Fit for rock 'n' roll royalty! U2 bassist Adam Clayton weds bride Mariana (again) in romantic French château

U2 are considered rock 'n' roll royalty after five decades making music.
So when it came to U2 bassist Adam Clayton's wedding to Mariana Teixeira De Carvalho, it was only right they celebrated in suitably regal fashion.
The couple, who legally wed in a civil ceremony in Dublin on September 4, celebrated their nuptials with a white wedding at a French château on Sunday.

The bride, 35, and groom, 53, were joined by Adam's U2 bandmates Bono and The Edge and supermodel Christy Turlington as they tied the knot again at the Château de la Napoule on the French Riviera.
The 14th century château in Mandelieu-la-Napoule overlooks the Mediterranean and is located a short drive from Cannes.
The bride shunned convention and opted for a flamboyant large hat instead of a veil or headpiece, and wore a floor-length white gown with sheer detailing and a cape.

Meanwhile, her rocker groom looked suitably dapper in a black suit, with yellow flowers pinned to his lapel.
It's the same venue where Canadian singers Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger tied the knot in July.
As well as the actual wedding party, the couple have been joined by a host of friends for an extended celebration over the weekend, including on Bono's yacht Cyan.

On Thursday, Adam and Mariana were seen joining family on the yacht for an afternoon cruise.
The celebrations were also expected to take place at Bono and The Edge's villa in Eze-sur-Mer, which they co-own.
Adam and Mariana officially tied the knot at the Civil Registration Service offices on Lower Grand Canal Street in central Dublin nearly two weeks ago.

At the time, his rep confirmed: 'Adam Clayton is delighted to confirm that he married Mariana De Carvalho today in Dublin.'
Adam is said to be leaving Dublin for London, where his new wife works as an associate director of Hauser & Wirth art gallery.
Adam and Mariana got engaged during the Rio De Janeiro Carnival in Brazil last February.

Clayton was previously engaged to supermodel Naomi Campbell and had a long relationship with Suzanne Smith before the pair broke up 2007.
