We can always rely on Madonna to mix it up.
The original queen of pop eschewed the usual red carpet fayre of floor length gowns, embellishment and sheer delights at last night's Grammys and instead opted for a very masculine trouser suit. Of course, it's not just any trouser suit. This wide legged, double breasted two-piece is straight from the Ralph Lauren SS14 runway. She's even got the white shirt and black tie, although that hat was definitely one of her own additions.
It makes a nice change to see a woman so sure of her atttractiveness and sexual allure that she feels no pressure to succumb to flashing as much flesh as possible. Mind you Madonna has done her fair share of that over the years... she's probably over all that now. Boring!
And in truth there's nothing sexier than a woman in some sharp tailoring. And of course, it's a useful ensemble to have in your fashion arsenal. Nothing says 'I mean business' better than a trouser suit.
Buying this look on the high street is thankfully an easy task. Topshop gives it some shimmer while Asos and Reiss keep it classic. Or how about a spotty style at Jaeger? Then wear with a simple tee and heels or go the whole hog in a shirt and tie too!
