ENGLISH TOURING OPERA has rediscovered Donizetti’s virtually unknown “Il furioso all’isola di San Domingo”, first performed to huge success in 1833, but vanished from view by the late 19th century. Renamed The Wild Man of the West Indies, it is cannily teamed during ETO’s spring tour with opera’s most popular work in Puccini’s La Boheme.
