The Best Drugstore Foundation Routine
Yesterday I posted a lil' recap of my Drugstore Foundation and contouring routine over on my Youtube Channel and I thought I'd share it on here and hit you up with some mini reviews of the products I used in the videos! You can watch the video above for my application and some tips or oer on my channel if you prefer!
Maybelline Baby Skin Primer*:
A nifty little apricot primer that smooths the skin out while adding a touch of radiance to tired, dull and sleepy skin! If you have a sallow skin-tone then this product is a must have as it's apricot tone counteract green's and greys in the skin to give a subtle lit from within glow.
L'Oreal 24 Hour Infallible Matte Foundation
I've raved about this foundation before and done a full review on this in the past but the long and short of it is... if you're in the market for a full coverage, matte foundation then this one is for you. Long lasting, cheap and effective this is probably the best drugstore foundation out there and I'd totally recommend giving it a go.
Rimmel Good to Glow
A cute little highlighter which I personally like to mix with my foundation to stop it from looking so flat and matte. While we want matte skin we dont want it to loose some of the natural luminosity and by adding a few drops of this it creates a lovely base. This would also work well if you're trying to "strobe" your face if you use it as primer before applying your foundation on top.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
A product that doesn't really need any introductions. It's probably the most hyped concealer on the UK drugstore market. If you're into high coverage or just want something to conceal those pesky spots then pick this up. It'll be the best £5 you've ever spent.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
I think this is one of those beauty products that I've used for as long as I can remember. The Rimmel Stay Matte powder is one of those things that seems to have been around forever and worked consistently. It's an affordable matte powder which helps set makeup, keep oil at bay and doesnt cake. Plus you wont feel guilty throwing it in your handbag as it's only £3.99!
Maybelline Master Sculpt in Light/Medium*
Maybelline Master Sculpt in Light/Medium*
I've been using this recently in place of my usual contouring kit from Sleek and I think I've found a new favourite. I have the shade light/medium which is ideal for a natural contour but it does come in other shades if you want a stronger cheek look. The highlighter is so dreamy and applies very similarly to the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial powder for a glow without any glitter.

What do KFC, fashion and lunch have in common?
Alright, ladies and gents. I've made absolutely no secret about my obsession with fried chicken over the years. I'm a southern gal, and as such have been raised with an appreciation for the sweet taste of fried food. I simply can't help myself. But, hey, it's protein, so good for you right? Alright, traditional fried chicken hasn't had the best reputation. It's seen by many as a comfort food - as something that you treat yourself to in times of need or in times of pure uninhibited joy. It's something you eat sparingly, right? Well, KFC are working at changing that at the moment and they're working with fashion influencers to help spread the word. Ahem. Yes, this is where I enter into the mix. I'm working with KFC. Follow me here...
KFC are changing up their menu and introducing a little ditty called the KFC Ricebox. This evening, for the very first time, I had a chance to tuck into this new lunch box and did so with great trepidation. I don't do health food. Never have, never will. It doesn't sit right with me. If something says it's under 500 calories I immediately mark it as something that will taste like cardboard and walk the other direction. Sadly, my little standoff with healthy alternatives with food ended this evening after one bite of the KFC Ricebox. Yeah, I'm a sucker for tasty lunches and this one is, well, it's so good I'm working with them to promote it, here and now. It's under 500 calories, fills you up faster than you can ever imagine (and I'm used to eating 1 lb burgers) and it's getting a fashion makeover. Yes, you read that correctly. KFC is working with fashion influencers to give the Ricebox an edge, and I'm one of those influencers. Brace yourself.
In keeping with the idea of a lunch hour, KFC has decided to challenge some of fashion's finest in London to a one hour creative exercise. They kicked off this evening with a rather epic launch of Katie Eary's one hour runway showcase. Yes, in one hour this woman created the following:
Are you still thinking, how the heck does this all fit together? Maybe this video will help...
So, where does Fashion Foie Gras come in? Well, on Monday I will be challenged to create a cover for the Ricebox (see below what Katie did) in under an hour. I'll be given a creative team to help take my thoughts and put them onto a printable box cover and then the whole thing will be available to buy. Yup, the fashion goose is about to meet some mean chicken! On Tuesday, the box will go into store and you'll get a chance to have your lunch with a bit of a fashion flare attached. More info to come on locations, etc. But for now, sit back and enjoy the fact that you just get to have lunch on your lunch hour -I'll be sweating bullets hoping to impress you with my SS16 inspired KFC Ricebox cover. No pressure or anything.

The Ralph Lauren Runway takes over Piccadilly Circus
This afternoon, Ralph Lauren became the first global brand to partner with Periscope in livestreaming their New York Fashion Week SS16 catwalk on the billboards at Piccadilly Circus in London. Wow, that was a mouthful. It was truly a moment to remember as my two worlds collided - a brand I've worshipped since I was a toddler come to a city I've called home for nearly a decade and a half. You had to know I wasn't going to give this a miss. So, I marched myself down to Piccadilly Circus for the occasion, wearing Ralph Lauren Autumn Winter 2015, naturally.
The crowds gathered by the dozens as we waited for the livestream to start. London was definitely at its finest. The sun was shining, double decker buses were moving to and fro and tourists were wondering about the London landmark and looking up to see what the fashion world was staring at. As expected, iPhones came out and the world stopped and watched as Ralph Lauren shared an intimate fashion moment with thousands from around the globe and an enthusiastic gathering of people in Piccadilly Circus. We were given the first look at the celebrity front row, which included Alec Baldwin, Julianne Moore, Jessica Chastain and Anna Wintour. Then the show began and we all held out breath as look after look was revealed in real time. Ralph's gone nautical for SS16. Take note!
Of course it's not surprising at all that Ralph Lauren is the first to take on such an advancement in technology. The brand as a whole is constantly testing the boundaries when it comes to innovation with fashion, whether that be with new communications or wearable tech. Once again, RL, I take my hat off to you. It was certainly an afternoon to remember.
Shop The Look:
A few of my favorite looks from the show, for those of you that may not have been able to catch it in the afternoon. It's all gone nautical, and I'm loving every minute of it!
