Dog lovers: If you only follow one Instagram account...

Last year I came across an account on Instagram that instantly had me excited for the future of social media. This isn't an account that shares pictures of breakfasts or duck lipped girls posing with the latest Chloe bag. This is an account that was created with the express purpose of giving a new life to homeless pups.

Cyprus Dogs, an account set up by the lovely Eve Moore, was formed to address a rather desperate situation with pound puppies in Cyprus. Overwhelmed by the horrendous conditions in which dogs were found in Cyprus pounds, Eve created an Instagram account and a plan. She would share pictures and detailed descriptions of the animals in need of homes and would help find them new families in the UK. With the help of social media, her idea has flown. One look at the beautiful faces of these puppies in need and I guarantee you'll be reorganizing your life to welcome a stray into your home tomorrow. Or at least I hope that's what will come of this.

As of January 2016, over 900 dogs have been shared online and the likes and comments, not to mention actual rehoming, has been above and beyond expectations. Of course, this is only the beginning and there is a lot of work to be done. But hey, that's where you come in!

Please, if you live in the UK and can support a dog in need in your home, consider checking out Cyprus Dogs, as an additional option, for finding your perfect canine companion. Or, pass on the news to someone else who could help?

Best of luck to Eve and everyone at the Wild at Heart Foundation for taking on such an incredible task. Here's to the rehoming of thousands more dogs in 2016!
