People of Los Angeles and beyond, let it be known that a fabulous new restaurant has reopened its doors in Beverly Hills (and not a Real Housewife in sight). The Belvedere at The Peninsula Beverly Hills has been re-open only a month, but already it's causing quite the buzz. Of course it's no surprise that an interiors renovation and complete menu reinvention would lead many to be curious - including myself. This space has a 25 year history as a culinary classic and it's always interesting to see what one would do with such a landmark in Beverly Hills. The Peninsula did not disappoint.
The Belvedere at The Peninsula has actually reopened with a Mediterranean focus. The food is fresh, sourced locally and mixed together beautifully for mouthwatering results. Dishes as simple as Taramasalata are so perfectly put together one feels as if they are eating it all again for the first time. And you will want to sample absolutely everything on the menu. Be sure to go with a big party so that all can be ordered and shared family style. While in residence for the evening, I had a sampling of the highlights of the menu and had to pace myself, and tried desperately to remember that finishing each dish would be next to impossible. But oh the temptation in trying to do so. See pics below.
If you find your eyes wondering around the restaurant as you eat, never fear - that's the intention. The Belvedere at The Peninsula Beverly Hills has one of the most outstanding contemporary art collections I've ever seen decorating the walls of any restaurant. Paintings from Robert Indiana, Alex Katz, Sean Scully, Josef Albers and many more are on display around the restaurant. There is a particular romance found in enjoying your food while some of the world's most treasured art oversees your feast.
Now that we have the basics covered, here's the important stuff- what you have to order: The Charred Caesar Salad, The Grass Fed Lamb Meatballs, Taramasalata with Pitta Bread, The Branzino and any one of the amazing pasta dishes (if not all).
Check out pics of my experience below, and book in now to enjoy the restaurant for yourself!
