Think your head injury was bad, Wayne?... Italy defender Pasqual suffers horror cut

Bloody mess: Italy's midfielder Manuel Pasqual receives treatment for head injury
Head injuries have been a major talking point since Wayne Rooney was forced to pull out of England's two vital World Cup qualifiers this week with a deep gash.
The Manchester United striker posted a picture on Facebook of the deep gash on his forehead after an accidental training ground collision with Phil Jones.
England team-mate Theo Walcott described Rooney's wound as 'like something out of a horror film', so who knows what he would have made of Manuel Pasqual's bloody mess.

The Italy defender sustained a deep cut during a midair clash with Libor Kozak towards the end of Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Czech Republic.
His club Fiorentina revealed on Wednesday that Pasqual required seven stitches on his forehead and was kept in hospital overnight.
In a statement, the club said: 'The Viola skipper never lost consciousness but remained in hospital overnight for further tests as a precautionary measure.'

Four-times World Cup winners Italy clinched a place at the 2014 finals in Brazil after coming from a goal down to beat Czech Republic 2-1 and win Group B.
A Giorgio Chiellini header and Mario Balotelli's penalty early in the second half cancelled out Libor Kozak's 19th minute opener for the visitors and moved the Italians on to 20 points, seven ahead of second-placed Bulgaria with two games to play.
Balotelli's 54th-minute winner capped a typically eventful night for the striker, who missed three easy first-half chances and was lucky not to get sent off for a foul on Tomas Sivok.
'I've never missed two such easy chances before, I was unlucky but I kept going until the end,' Balotelli said.
'The easier one was the second one that (keeper Petr) Cech dropped to me. I shot high because I thought that if I shot low he would have saved it but I ended up hitting it too high.'

Michal Bilek's spirited Czech side were unlucky not to get at least a point against Cesare Prandelli's unconvincing Italy and their night finished on a sour note when Daniel Kolar was sent off for a silly foul on Balotelli in the last minute.
Had Kozak's smart curling shot sneaked inside the post after a blistering counter-attack in first-half stoppage time it could have been a different result against the patchy hosts, who despite being favourites to qualify frequently put themselves under unnecessary pressure.
'I always have a terror when people start talking about partying,' said Italy captain Gianluigi Buffon, who equalled Fabio Cannavaro's record of 136 Azzurri appearances.
'Having passed the terror we had in the first half we can now celebrate, and I can celebrate this small record of mine, as well as getting a ticket for Brazil.'
The result means the Czechs remain on nine points and are staring elimination in the face. They have slipped into fourth place behind Denmark who won 1-0 in Armenia and moved on to 12 points to stand one point behind Bulgaria, who beat Malta 2-1.
The Czechs must win their last two games away to Malta and Bulgaria next month to have any chance of a playoff place.

Tottenham fans WILL face prosecution if they chant the 'Y-word' as FA issue stern warning

The Football Association has warned fans against using a derogatory term for Jews in chants at matches.
Variations of 'Yid' have often been hurled by rival supporters of Premier League club Tottenham.

Watch your words: Tottenham fans have been given a strong caution by the FA not to chant the word Yid
Common sight: Spurs fans often chant and display banners with the word
Common sight: Spurs fans often chant and display banners with the word
The FA says the abuse has been 'clouded' by fans of Tottenham, which has traditionally drawn a large fan base from the Jewish communities in London, calling themselves the 'Yid Army.'
But on its website, the FA says it's hard to determine which fans are using 'Yid' in an 'intentionally offensive manner.'
English football leaders add that 'rules on acceptable behavior and language need to be simple.'
Determining that using 'Yid' is inappropriate at matches, the FA is encouraging fans to avoid using it in 'any situation' or risk criminal prosecution.
The abuse faced by Tottenham fans returned to the spotlight last season.
During a Premier League match, some West Ham fans were heard chanting about Adolf Hitler and hissing, a gesture widely seen as imitating the sound of the gas chambers used during the Holocaust.
The FA took no action against Tottenham's London rival.
At a Europa League match in Rome, Lazio fans hurled anti-Semitic chants at the visiting Tottenham fan base, leading to the Italian club being sanctioned by UEFA.

FA statement on use of word 'Yid' in full

The FA is committed to promoting equality and inclusion in football and to confronting and eliminating discrimination of every kind.
The FA appreciates that language is a complex issue: the use and meaning of words is constantly evolving. This means that, over time, sometimes neutral words or phrases can come to be understood as offensive; and, similarly, words or phrases previously considered as offensive can become more acceptable.
The FA also appreciates the difference between the use of language in the private and public sphere. Whilst someone may be free to use the language of his or her choice at home, the same is not the case when he or she does so publicly.
As the governing body of football, it is The FA’s duty to enforce the Laws of the Game and to send out clear messages about what is and what is not acceptable language within the context of football.
Targets: Spurs fans were subjected to anti-Semitic attacks in Rome last season The term 'Yid'
Although the term derives from the Yiddish word for a Jew, its use in the English language has been, both historically and in contemporary use, derogatory and offensive.
It is noted that many minority communities have sought to reclaim historic terms of abuse such as this as a means of empowerment.  The process of empowerment through reclaiming language is complex and can often divide opinion within the same community.
In light of the historic and contemporary use of the term, The FA considers that the use of the term ‘Yid’ is likely to be considered offensive by the reasonable observer.
Use of the term by football fans
The FA is aware that there are sections of fans at certain clubs who describe themselves using the term, or variants of the term, ‘Yid’. Those fans claim that use of the term is a ‘badge of honour’ and is not intended to be offensive.
Nevertheless, its use is still liable to cause offence to others, whether Jewish or not.
Also, by using the term in this manner, fans may be clouding the issue by making it harder to differentiate its use by these fans and by those who use the term in an intentionally offensive manner.
Further, use of the term in a public setting could amount to a criminal offence, and leave those fans liable to prosecution and potentially a lengthy Football Banning Order.
Prosecution: The FA says those who use the term will be punished in courtSummary
The FA considers that for the betterment of the game, rules on acceptable behaviour and language need to be simple, understandable and applicable to all people at all levels of the game.
As such, The FA considers that the use of the term ‘Yid’ is likely to be considered offensive by the reasonable observer and considers the term to be inappropriate in a football setting.
The FA would encourage fans to avoid using it in any situation.

Casual Alicia Keys blends in with beach goers as she and husband Swizz Beatz take toddler Egypt for a fun day out in Rio

Life's a beach: Alicia Keys sported a blue vest top over shorts as she larked around with husband Swizz Beatz and their son Egypt in Rio de Janeiro on Monday
She may be a world-famous singer with a high profile concert appearance ahead of her on Friday, but Alicia Keys looked like any other young mother as she hit the beach in Rio de Janeiro this week.
The 32-year-old star sported a casual dark blue vest, over a bright green bikini top, and baggy blue shorts as she relaxed with husband Swizz Beatz and their two-year-old son Egypt in the Brazilian city.
She lay back on the golden sands and soaked in the sights, before helping her toddler build sandcastles with a bucket.

The singer/songwriter is in the South American city to perform at Rock in Rio Festival on Friday, but was clearly enjoying spending time with her family and a group of friends.
She was also spotted looking a far cry from her superstar image in a pair of baggy tracksuit bottoms and sleeveless top while chilling out with a friend at her hotel pool.
However, she didn't leave her rock and roll roots too far behind - her vest top was emblazoned with the slogan: 'Work, party, repeat.'

She and her hip hop artist husband seemed determined to do some sight-seeing too, at one point taking a helicopter ride over the city, with Alicia sporting a leopard print vest top over a white ensemble.
Alicia has previously spoken about how her husband and son have provided inspiration for her work.
The couple were married shortly after their son was born in October 2010.
'Many things inspire me,' she told Origin Magazine last September. 'First and foremost, my family, my husband and our son, Egypt. I find that the love we share fills me up and makes me see and appreciate life in a different way.'

'I feel alive in quiet moments with my son, riding our bikes or watching him line his trains up in a particular order, witnessing how his mind works, hearing him learn a new word.
'I’m alive in these special moments because I never knew a love like this.'
She also revealed how live performing is one of her favourite aspects of her job.

'When I’m on stage, my interaction with the audience is something that really makes me come alive. It’s a feeling like no other,' she admitted.
'The energy of the crowd fuels something new inside. It reminds me to live in the moment. Moments are so fleeting; I want to hold on to the good ones.
'When I am truly present, I feel alive, and I want everyone around me to share that feeling so we can make the most of that moment together.'

'I will be nearing 70 when my youngest child goes to college': St. Elmo's Fire star Andrew McCarthy, 50, nervous about third child

He was an icon of the '80s with such hits as St. Elmo's Fire, Pretty In Pink and Less Than Zero.
So it's no wonder Andrew McCarthy, 50, feels he's just too old to have another baby.
In the October issue of Town & Country magazine the former Brat Packer opens his heart about the stress he feels over having to hit the playground once again with his third child, due this fall.

The former teen idol, who has shared film scenes with such A-listers as Demi Moore, Robert Downey Jr. and Kim Cattrall, confessed that he is excited but scared.
'That my wife is with child is, of course, good news. It's fantastic news. And yet it is news that does not sit easily with me,' he writes in the article titled Baby Boom.
'I already have two children, one by my first wife and another with my current—and currently pregnant—wife. My oldest lives with us half the time and with his mother, a few blocks away, the other half.
'I adore my children, naturally. My son [Sam] is 11; my daughter [Willow] recently turned seven....The thing is, I turned 50 this year. I was fairly old getting into the child business to begin with, but now...'

The New Jersey native, who will next star in The Haunted Secret with Bai Ling, is worried he will be too old to take proper care of baby number three.
'When I do the math, and I have, repeatedly, I will be nearing 70—s-e-v-e-n-t-y—when my youngest child goes off to college,' he says.
'That is, assuming I live that long and that I can still afford college. From everything I hear, 70 is no longer 70.... And now, with the notion that my sixties will be spent with a teenager at home, I am left gasping as I watch pipe dreams of extended travel, time with my wife, and visions of blessed solitude go up in smoke.
'I used to be grateful I waited so long to start a family, glad I was more emotionally mature when my kids came along,' Andrew writes.
'But I never imagined myself one of those fathers mistaken for Grandpa at morning drop-off.'
Andrew, who says his wife was five months along at the time he wrote the article, points out just how stressed he is
'The greatest, deepest joys in my life have, without doubt, been associated with my children. So why this apprehension about another?' he confesses.
'Or maybe it's worry that my relationship with my wife will get sliced even further, with yet another piece of her going to someone else who cries out for attention.'

While he is panic struck, his wife Dolores Rice, who he married in 2011, is excited.
'My wife has plunged into serious and classic nesting mode,' the actor and travel writer continues.
'She has become urgently obsessed with finding a bigger, better home. Now. I, on the other hand, have recently been employing an equally time-honored response: denial.'
One thing Andrew dreads going back to? Those darn swings and slides!
'I always hated the playground,' he adds.
'A few months ago I was struck suddenly with relief and a strange form of pride when it occurred to me that the hours spent chasing my kids under the jungle gym and pushing them on truck tires hanging from heavy chains were mostly over. The idea of zooming down the slide with my new infant on my lap fills me with exhaustion. Been there, done that.'
The New Yorker ends his article on an optimistic note.
'History promises—and I trust the future will bear this out—that the moment my new child is born, all my misplaced anxieties and selfish doubts will be swept away,' he concludes.
Good luck Andrew!

EXPLICIT CONTENT WARNING: Has she finally gone too far this time? Miley Cyrus gets fully naked to straddle Wrecking Ball in video of the same name

She's no stranger to controversy but Miley Cyrus has gone a step further in the video for the second offering from her album Bangerz.... by getting completely naked.
The 20-year-old strips off to ride a Wrecking Ball to accompany the single of the same name, and has created a short film that's more provocative than even her last boisterous hit, We Can't Stop.
This isn't surprising when you take into account that the video was directed by controversial photographer Terry Richardson - the man known for shooting Kate Upton's curves and who counts Lindsay Lohan as a key muse.

In the film, a nude Cyrus straddles a swinging wrecking ball, licks a sledgehammer and smashes up a few walls for good measure.
Cyrus posted a link to the video on Monday with the hashtag #WreckTheRecord meaning she's keen to break her own VEVO record of views in one day, and to reclaim her crown from One Direction.
We Can't Stop video scored 10.7 but One Direction's Best Song Ever clip accumulated 10.9 million glances in July.

We Can't Stop was promoted by a video that was full of twerking, partying and even featured a make-out session between Miley and a doll.
And her now infamous VMA performance saw her parade around in a bra and knickers, whilst twerking (again) and performing some other obscure movements with a foam finger.
In an an interview with MTV, the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus compared herself to Madonna and Britney Spears, who also made headlines when they locked lips during a passionate on air kiss 10 years ago at the 2003 VMAs, and she's likely to have some tricks under her belt for her first hosting gig in Saturday Night Live on October 5.

Miley - who is currently in Amsterdam - has been very busy in Europe promoting her fourth album, which is her first album with her new punk look and attitude, which is quite the 180 from the Country Bumpkin image she used to fuel her teenage career.

Come on, Daddy! Kai Rooney makes a dash to the beach as Wayne follows behind during family break with wife Coleen

He's three years old and is clearly full of energy.
So when faced with the prospect of a day at the beach, Kai Rooney was first in line to make dash for the warm sands.
The little boy was seen running along the deck as he was followed closely by father Wayne, who did his utmost to stay hot on his son's trail.

Clearly struggling to keep up with Kai, Wayne was then seen picking up his little boy to prevent him from running off into the sea.
Wayne and wife Coleen are on holiday with their sons Kai and Klay in Quinta do Lago, Portugal, while the football recovers from a head injury.
And Coleen is clearly enjoying the time away, tweeting on Sunday: 'Just what I've needed ..... Some quality time with my family after a hectic summer!!! Lovely few days.'

Toting a large white bag, and wearing sunglasses, Coleen was seen making her way to a nearby restaurant with her family to grab some food in between sunbathing.
While the couple's baby son Klay is believed to be on holiday with the family, he was not seen during the trip to the beach.

Later Wayne was seen carrying Kai on his shoulders, toting the little boy as he and Coleen took him back to their luxury hotel.
Throughout the day, Wayne was seen covering up his head in a white baseball cap, to conceal the large and unpleasant gash on his head which he suffered while playing for England in their qualifying World Cup games against Moldova and Ukraine.
The Manchester United striker suffered the three-inch cut in a training ground collision with team-mate Phil Jones on September 7 and cannot risk contact until the stitches come out.
His wound was revealed last Wednesday when he was pictured with his family at the Apple Jacks Adventure Park in Warrington.

The sportsman initially received criticism for over-reacting to the injury and responded by posting pictures of the scar on his Facebook page.
Alongside the photographs, he wrote: 'Some people seem to be questioning my commitment to the England squad.'
Wayne will not be able to play in England's next qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday night, but has been voicing his support for the team via his Facebook page.
Following the squad's 4-0 victory against Moldova, Wayne wrote: 'Great result for the lads last night, gutted I wasn't involved but made it a bit easier to see them get a convincing win. Hopefully we can do the same on Tuesday.
