Liverpool striker Luiz Suarez can't say NO to Real Madrid, says lawyer

The Uruguayan has been linked with a switch to this season's Champions League winners and his representative claims that he has a "predisposition for Spain"

Luis Suarez Liverpool v West Ham United - English Premier League 12072013 Luis Suarez's lawyer admits that the Liverpool striker would find it difficult to turn down a move to Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old has long been linked with a move to Carlo Ancelotti's side but insisted earlier in May that he is happy to stay at Anfield.

Suarez, who finished as the Premier League's top scorer with 31 goals this season, signed a new contract with Liverpool in December but the Uruguayan's representative says that the forward would favour a switch to Spain if the opportunity arose.

"A year ago he was very likely to leave Liverpool," Alejandro Balbi told Cadena SER of a summer that saw Arsenal push hard for his signature.

"Now I think it is very difficult because he is an idol, although clubs can offer a lot of money.

"If there is such a big offer from Real Madrid, it would be very difficult to say no. Luis Suarez has always had a predisposition for Spain."

Spain legend David Villa undergoes medical ahead of New York City move

The 32-year-old forward is finalising the terms of his contract and is set to train with Manchester City until the new Major League Soccer season begins in March 2015

David Villa Atletico Madrid v Getafe 131123

Atletico Madrid striker David Villa is undergoing a medical in Manchester ahead of a move to New York City FC, Goal understands.

The 32-year-old arrived at the Bridgewater Hospital in Moss Side on Saturday and is in England to complete contract negotiations with Manchester City's Major League Soccer franchise.

Prior to his marquee switch to New York City FC, whose season will start next March, Villa will be able to train with City's first team but will not make an appearance for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Villa scored 13 goals in 36 Primera Division appearances for Atletico Madrid this term and has been named in Vicente del Bosque's final Spain squad for this summer’s World Cup.

He joined Diego Simeone's side from Barcelona in July 2013.

The publication reports that contact was made between the two clubs about the 27-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Champions League winners in the past.
Vidal, who scored 18 goals from midfield in all competitions for the Turin outfit last season, has played an integral part in boss Antonio Conte's side - helping them to win three successive Serie A titles since he joined the club in 2011.

Sure thing? Marca reports that Spain boss Vicente del Bosque will name his 23-man World Cup squad on Saturday

Corriere dello Sport adds that to soften the potential blow of losing Vidal, Real will offer either defenders Marcelo, Fabio Coentrao or forward Alvaro Morata as a part-exchange incentive.
Tuttosport also leads with the potential sale of the Chile international but says midfielder Angel di Maria could be a potential player offered in the transfer instead of Morata.

The publication also adds that the Old Lady are preparing to make a move for Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez and have made an appointment with his agent.

AS, Marca and Mundo Deportivo all cover the victory in Seville which saw goals from Fernando Torres and Andres Iniesta.
Mundo Deportivo hails Iniesta's goal and performance for the World and European champions, while AS describes Vicente del Bosque's side as 'playing with hunger' against their South American opponents.
Marca reports that 'Spain as now ready for the World Cup', while the trio of papers all state that Del Bosque will submit his final 23-man squad list for the World Cup on Saturday.

Benzema blow for Arsenal as striker says he feels 'at home' at Madrid

Arsenal look doomed to failure in their bid to lure Karim Benzema to North London after the striker revealed he feels ‘at home’ at Real Madrid.
Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger has been chasing the French international and had hoped he could convince him to make the switch from the Spanish capital.
The 26-year-old striker signed for Real in 2009 from Lyon and has scored an impressive 111 goals in 235 games.

Spanish giants Real have been linked with Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and Manchester City hitman Sergio Aguero, leading to speculation regarding Benzema's future at the Sanitago Bernabeu.
Real beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final to claim 'La Decima' - the club's 10th European Cup - and Benzema has revealed that he is happy at the club and is not agitating for a move.
He told L’Equipe Magazine: 'I feel at home in Madrid. I am really at ease.
'Playing at Real Madrid is a joy and fills me with pride because it is the greatest club in the world and also because I have come through some difficult moments in my five years here.'
The Frenchman also said that he will be fully fit the World Cup after being selected in the 23-man squad for Brazil.

Mario Mandzukic, Karim Benzema, Cesc Fabregas and the other stars Wenger hopes to help Arsenal win Premier League

His future secured by a new three-year contract worth £8m a season and his transfer coffers boosted by £100m, Arsene Wenger will now begin the process of building another successful Arsenal side.
The Frenchman, who will complete two decades in charge of the north London club if he sees out his new contract, has already drawn up a shortlist of summer targets.
Wenger sees this month’s FA Cup triumph as only the beginning and the club’s hierarchy have backed him to build another all-conquering Arsenal side.
He will prioritise three key areas to strengthen - right-back, central midfield and up front - and here’s our lowdown on the potential recruits.
Ready to splash the cash? Arsene Wenger has plenty of money to play with at Arsenal this summer
Ready to splash the cash? Arsene Wenger has plenty of money to play with at Arsenal this summer

Calum Chambers (Southampton)
With 31-year-old Bacary Sagna yet to commit to a new contract and strong interest in him from Manchester City, Paris St Germain and Galatasaray, Wenger will likely need a new right-back.
Chambers has enjoyed a breakthrough season for Southampton, making 22 appearances in the Barclays Premier League and impressing many with his boldness going forward.
The 19-year-old is currently England captain at that age group and is expected to make the transition into Roy Hodgson’s senior squad just as his Southampton clubmate Luke Shaw has done.
He is certainly one for the future and would suit Arsenal with his strong attributes both in attack and defence. He delivered 87 crosses in Premier League matches last season and his tackle success rate was a very good 84 per cent.
Probability: 5/10
Atsuto Uchida (Schalke)
Japanese international Uchida would also fit the bill for a forward-thinking right-sided player and has just one year remaining on his contract, which may persuade the Bundesliga club to sell.
After moving from J-League side Kashima Antlers, Uchida has established himself as one of the best in his position in the German top flight and was voted by fans in the Team of the Season.
With 127 appearances for Schalke and 67 caps for Japan under his belt, Uchida obviously represents a more experienced alternative to Chambers but he does have a tendency to get caught out of position too far forward.
Probability: 6.5/10

Key man: Atsuto Uchida will play for Japan at the World Cup in Brazil when it kicks off in a fortnight
Key man: Atsuto Uchida will play for Japan at the World Cup in Brazil when it kicks off in a fortnight

Serge Aurier (Toulouse)
Ivorian Aurier would not take much persuading to make the move to north London. The 21-year-old is a lifelong Arsenal fan, has posted pictures on social media in an Arsenal shirt and has gone on record to say he ‘could not refuse’ if Wenger came calling.
After coming through the ranks at Lens, Aurier moved to Toulouse in 2012 and has continued his impressive development.
Like the other two, he is not shy in bombing forward down the wing and delivering crosses. Aurier scored six goals and contributed seven assists in Ligue 1 last season and earned himself a place in the provisional Ivory Coast squad for the World Cup.
Probability: 6.5/10
Lars Bender (Bayer Leverkusen)
Wenger tried to sign Bender last summer but instead ended up with Mathieu Flamini for a second spell, offering a bit of substance in the midfield.
But despite Germany international Bender saying earlier this year that he is not ready to make the step up to the Premier League, Wenger may test Leverkusen’s resolve with a bid in the region of £20m.
That value is unlikely to increase this summer after Bender was ruled out of the World Cup with a thigh injury sustained during the squad’s training camp in the Tyrol.
From his deep-lying position in midfield, Bender would bring a tireless workrate and plenty of tenacity to shield the back four.
Probability: 7/10
Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)
There was some intense competition, but Schneiderlin scooped both the Player’s Player of the Year and the Fans’ Player of the Year accolades at Southampton following an excellent campaign.
He topped the Premier League rankings for interceptions (139) and tackles (146), scored a couple of Premier League goals and had a pass completion record of 84 per cent.
That’s a strong hand and it’s little wonder Wenger is interested in the Frenchman, who would come far cheaper than Bender.
Probability: 6/10
Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona)
There will be no shortage of suitors should Barcelona decide to offload Fabregas this summer and Wenger will hope that the emotional pull of a return to Arsenal will give them the advantage.
Arsenal fans who witnessed his brilliance prior to his departure back to Catalonia in 2011 don’t need to be told that Fabregas brings style, creativity, intelligence and a fine passing range.
He scored eight times and set up 19 other goals in La Liga alone last season and Wenger knows he won’t come cheap - somewhere between £35m and £40m will be required - or easily, with expected interest from Manchester United and others.
But it would be an immensely popular move to see the former captain return to the Emirates.
Probability: 6/10

Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid)
Arsenal chiefs have already made enquiries with Real Madrid over 21-year-old Morata, well aware that Juventus and other leading clubs have expressed a keen interest in one of Europe’s hottest properties.
Morata made 23 league appearances last season but the majority were in fits and starts from the bench and if Karim Benzema decides to sign a new contract, he may be tempted to seek more regular action elsewhere.
Arsenal scored 68 goals in the Premier League last season, significantly less than the 102 of champions Manchester City and the 101 of runners-up Liverpool. It is imperative they bring in an effective striker if they are to challenge for the title once again.
The main stumbling block in any deal would be Real’s insistence that they can buy Morata back within two years if he proves himself at another club.
Probability: 7/10
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
The aforementioned Benzema, Real’s first choice striker who scored 24 goals and created a further 16 in all competitions last season, would be a more reliable, if expensive, choice.
Arsenal also enquired about his availability after the Champions League final, knowing that Benzema has yet to commit to a contract extension with just one season left to run.
Wenger has a long-standing interest in his compatriot and Arsenal have been linked with him for three consecutive summers now.
The signing of Benzema would represent a real coup for Wenger, the perfect start to his plans to construct another great Arsenal team. The striker would certainly guarantee 20-25 goals a season if he continues his current progress.
Probability: 4/10

Mario Mandzukic (Bayern Munich)
With Robert Lewandowski arriving from Borussia Dortmund, at least one of Bayern’s uber-prolific front line will have to be sacrificed and the feeding frenzy looks likeliest to surround Mandzukic.
Manchester United and Chelsea are among the big clubs interested, meaning Arsenal would face stiff competition for a striker who scored 26 goals last season despite rarely completing a full 90 minutes.
Despite the impressive goal haul, Mandzukic was absent from the club’s end-of-season celebrations, the final sign that his time at the Allianz Arena has expired.
The arrival of Lewandowski, announced last summer, combined with a deterioration of the Croat’s relationship with Pep Guardiola, have meant his departure has become inevitable.
He is a proven goalscorer and a proven winner, and Wenger will face a real fight to sign him.
Probability: 6/10
Loic Remy (Queens Park Rangers)
Despite leading his team straight back into the Premier League, QPR boss Harry Redknapp is resigned to losing French striker Remy, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle United.
His 14 Premier League goals in 26 games were a rare highlight in Newcastle’s season but had the consequence of attracting the attention of a number of bigger clubs.
With QPR needing to balance the books, a move across London to the Emirates could happen for a reasonable price of perhaps £10m or less.
Probability: 6.5/10

Rickie Lambert close to completing £4m Liverpool move after undergoing medical on Merseyside

Southampton and England striker Rickie Lambert appears a step closer to completing a move to Liverpool after undergoing a medical on Merseyside.
The Anfield club are understood to have agreed a £4million deal for the 32-year-old, who was once on their books as an academy player.
Liverpool are thought to be keen to complete a deal before Lambert heads to England's pre-World Cup training camp in the United States on Sunday.
Lambert told Sky Sports News: 'The medical went well but as you know I can't say anything.
'I'll speak properly about it, hopefully, very shortly.
'It's been a crazy football year to be honest, the way it's carrying on.'

The initial £4m fee will rise according to the appearances he makes, while the club were keen to keep his whereabouts under wraps.
He arrived at Liverpool Spire Hospital at around nine o'clock on Saturday morning; after the medical, a club car reversed right up to the entrance before bundling the striker into the back.
Lambert was then taken to the club's training ground at Melwood ahead of a flight back down to Southampton later in the afternoon.
The 32-year-old, who began his career at Liverpool’s academy, will be the first major arrival in what is expected to be a busy summer for the club.
He could even be followed by two of his team-mates from Southampton, as Liverpool are still negotiating for £25m-rated Adam Lallana and have also targeted Dejan Lovren to bolster their defence.
A boyhood Liverpool fan, Lambert finally looks set to earn his big move after a career largely spent in the lower leagues. He wasn't deemed strong enough by Steve McMahon at Blackpool as a youngster before moves to Macclesfield, Stockport, Rochdale and Bristol Rovers. Alan Pardew then spent £1million to take the target man to St Mary's in 2009.
Rodgers wanted the deal done before Roy Hodgson takes his side away to Brazil for the start of the World Cup.
Lambert scored 16 goals for club and country last season and will provide the Premier League title chasers with a different option up front to supplement Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool make final £25m Lallana bid as Lambert arrives for medical

The Reds are keen to wrap up a deal as soon as possible and have told the Saints that they will not make a bigger offer, while team-mate Lambert should complete his move shortly

Adam Lallana England v Peru International Friendly 05302014a

Liverpool have made a final £25 million bid for Southampton forward Adam Lallana.

The Reds are keen to tie up a deal as soon as possible and are adamant that they will not return with more money should the Saints knock back their latest approach.

Tottenham are also in the race to sign Lallana but it is the Merseysiders who have shown concrete interest with two formal bids.

The first, worth around £20m, was made on the final weekend of the Premier League season but was rejected by the Saints.

The south-coast club are holding out for nearer to £30m for the England man, but Liverpool will test that resolve by making it clear that they will not stretch any further than £25m.

Lallana's club and international team-mate, Rickie Lambert, will complete his Anfield move over the weekend after completing a medical on Saturday.

Both players will travel to Miami with the England squad on Sunday as they step up preparations for the World Cup in Brazil.

The Three Lions beat Peru 3-0 at Wembley on Friday evening thanks to goals from Daniel Sturridge, Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka.

Roy Hodgson's men will play Ecuador on Wednesday and Honduras next Saturday, before opening their World Cup campaign against Italy in Manaus on June 14.

Cristian Rodriguez- Liverpool talisman, Luiz Suarez better than Cristiano Ronaldo an Lionel Messi

Cristian Rodriguez insists that his Uruguay team-mate is unparalleled in modern football and thinks the Liverpool star's "rebel" attitude on the pitch is brilliantCristiano Ronaldo - Luis Suárez Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are not at the same level as Luis Suarez, according to loyal Uruguay team-mate Cristian Rodriguez.

The Liverpool striker underwent a knee operation earlier in May and is a doubt to be fit in time for the World Cup, which kicks off in under two weeks, although senior Uruguay figures insist he will play in the tournament.

Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona's Lionel Messi are widely considered to be the best players on the planet, but Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodriguez contests the status quo and claims Suarez is the cream of the crop.

"Suarez is the best player in the world," the Uruguayan, 28, told the Daily Mail. "And I’m not saying that because I’m Uruguayan and so is he.

"As far as I’m concerned Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are a notch or so below Suarez. He has demonstrated it for club and country. Messi and Ronaldo are not as good for their countries as for their clubs.

"Everyone loves him in the squad. He is a rebel on the pitch who fights for every ball but that is what we love about him in Uruguay. We hate to lose at anything, we want to win - so his will to win makes him a good Uruguayan."

Suarez enjoyed a bumper season with Liverpool in 2013-14, firing 31 goals to take them within touching distance of the Premier League title before dropped points in the final straight allowed Manchester City to triumph.

However, Ronaldo also put in a stunning season with Real Madrid as he scored a record number of goals in a single Champions League season to help the club win La Decima, with the Copa del Rey also in the Blancos bag.

Messi's campaign was muted, by comparison, as Barcelona finished 2013-14 with just the Supercopa to show for their efforts after failing to defeat Atletico Madrid in the final day of the season when a win would have given them La Liga.

Lampard would have 'no regrets' if his Chelsea career ends this summer

Frank Lampard is preparing himself to leave Chelsea, even if Jose Mourinho wants to keep the midfielder.
The 35-year-old's future remains uncertain and he could end a 13-year association with the club.
If he does end up departing, Lampard insists he will have no regrets.

'I don’t know if I’ll be at Chelsea next season,' Lampard told Red magazine. 'I’d like to carry on for two or three more years but it would be good to end on a high.
'So if that means it all ends tomorrow, I wouldn’t have any regrets.'
The former West Ham midfielder will be used sparingly by Roy Hodgson at the World Cup in Brazil and realises that he is becoming surpassed by others at club level.
'You know your shelf life, so I started to mentally prepare when I hit 30,' he added.
‘I’ve been doing this for a long time, so there’s a part of me that’s looking forward to the future.
‘I feel ready to handle it, because I’ve got other things, like the books.’
Lampard made 40 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions last season, although he is no longer sure of a first-team place.
He has always sworn that he will never play for another club in the Barclays Premier League, but LA Galaxy have a long-standing interest in Lampard and the MLS side would offer him a contract.

Aguero would 'love to go to Barcelona', says City star's father as Spanish giants 'make £31m bid'

Sergio Aguero's father has revealed that the Manchester City striker 'would love to go to Barcelona' amid Spanish media reports that the Catalans have launched a £31million bid.
Barcelona hope to tie up a deal for the 47-cap Argentina international and know that their opening offer is likely to be rebuffed outright by City.
But new Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique is a keen admirer of Aguero and he will insist that the Catalans return with a higher bid if a deal could potentially be struck, according to Spanish website Sport.

Aguero, 25, has a great relationship with Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Enrique is hopeful they can soon be club team-mates as well as fellow Argentine internationals.
With Aguero under contract at City until 2017, the club would be unlikely to even consider selling their prize asset for anything less than the £36m they paid for him in July 2011.
Aguero enjoyed a fine season at the Etihad despite injury, scoring an impressive 28 goals in 34 appearances as he helped City win the Premier League and the Capital One Cup double.

And his father Leonel del Castillo does not believe that Manuel Pellegrini will allow his star striker to leave for the club he has always wanted to represent, such is his importance to the side.
He told Spanish newspaper AS: 'He would love to go to Barcelona but Manchester City will make it impossible (for Aguero to go).'
