There's plenty of high tension tonight on EastEnders in the feverish lead-up to reveal who killed Lucy Beale in the BBC1 soap.
In
tonight's episode, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) discovers that it was Jake
(Jamie Lomas) who was the mystery man who emailed her the night Lucy (Hetti Bywater) died.
She
frantically heads off in search of information on Jake’s whereabouts on
Good Friday, however, when she gets home Lauren is terrified as Jake
manages to get into the house.
Keeping quiet: Jake (Jamie Lomas) tries to silence Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa)
As Lauren tries to flee, Jake grabs her and the big question is whether she will get away.
'Please don't hurt me' she begs of Jake.
'Hurt
you? I could never hurt you!' he tells Lauren as she shivers, frets and
tries to hold herself back from crying or screaming out for help.
Then Jake tells Lauren how he really feels about her as he whispers 'I love you'.
Cornered in the kitchen: Lauren is petrified when she sees Jake in the doorway
This is not enough for Lauren though who still fears the worse, not just for herself but also for what happened to Lucy.
'Why did you do it?' she asks Jake through tears.
'Do what?' he replies incredulously as if he has no idea what she is talking about.
Did he do it? A desperate Jake pleads his innocence to Lauren
Lauren still has to know and keeps pressing for answers, regardless of any danger that she herself may be in.
'She was my best friend,' she manages to mutter in between sobs.
'You think I killed Lucy?' Jake responds with a look of disgust and disbelief.
'It had nothing to do with me. I swear to you,' he tells her as if he means it.
Does she know too much: Jake tries to keep Lauren quiet
Several
EastEnders characters are under suspicion for the murder of the
troublesome Lucy and fans will be left guessing which is guilty for the
next ten months. Lucy's character was killed off during Good Friday's episode in the first twist in the protracted storyline.
Ben
Stephenson, drama boss for the show, said: ‘Just about everyone who
lives there is a suspect and we are going to use every single cast
member in the marketing campaign, which is the biggest we’ve ever done.
‘EastEnders is back to its best and we want everyone to know about it,' he added.
