Dazzling duchess poses for Hobbit director Sir Peter Jackson as William clambers into cockpit of vintage biplane

She's used to taking centre stage at public events where everything from her choice of designer footwear to her perfectly coiffed locks come under scrutiny.
And the Duchess of Cambridge today showed her star quality again as she posed for acclaimed film director Sir Peter Jackson on the latest stage of her New Zealand tour.
Amid a light drizzle at the Omaka Heritage Aviation Centre, Kate turned and smiled as the Hobbit director snapped photos of her from his smartphone.
The film veteran acted as the royal couple's tour guide of sorts as he led the Duke and Duchess through his collection of vintage aircraft on Thursday afternoon.

Strolling through the static exhibition, Prince William couldn't resist trying out the cockpit of a First World War biplane.
The Duke of Cambridge climbed in and out of the cockpit of vintage biplane Sopwith Pup, with Kate looking on, at first doubtful, then laughing as he struggled to fit his long legs in the cockpit.
The second in line to the throne also took delivery of a present designed to see his son, Prince George, follow in his footsteps.
Following a tour inside the museum, Prince William was shown the biplane, which had been flown by one of New Zealand's First World War aces, Malcolm 'Mac' McGregor.
McGregor like the plane so much, he christened it 'Peggy' in honour of his sister.
He asked if it worked, while Kate peered in asking him what the different levers did

And James Blunt is still using the song to land himself a date - judging by the inclusion of one particularly attractive, leggy brunette in the video for his new track Postcards.

His two female companions in the car then decide to change the stereo of the vehicle to play You're Beautiful in a bid to help James seduce the stunning brunette.
However, James told MailOnline that the scene was actually only included at the last minute after he met the woman the day before the video shoot.
He said: 'Look out for the girl walking past in the middle of the video - she was a journalist who'd interviewed me the day before. I'd asked if she'd like to be in the video, but the director said there was no space for her in the script.

'So we decided to just stop the video halfway through and have her walk past to the tune of You're Beautiful.'
And in the video, the ploy definitely works, as James is then seen dancing with the girl on stage while belting out the catchy track at a party.
Postcards is the second single from James' fourth studio album Moon Landing, and is due for release on May 19th.

Simon Cowell says Cheryl Cole would have clashed with former X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger

Simon Cowell has revealed the real reason behind Nicole Scherzinger's exit from the X Factor panel - a predicted clash between her and new judge Cheryl Cole.
The music mogul has admitted in a new interview that he felt he had no choice than to say goodbye to Nicole following Cheryl's confirmation of her return to the ITV show.
He said: 'I didn’t think the two of them would work well together.'

The pair would previously have worked together on The X Factor USA in 2011, when Nicole hosted the programme alongside Steve Jones, but Cheryl was fired as a judge from the panel after just a few days - leading to a long-time feud with Simon which was only recently resolved.

But Simon does have an idea of who should fill the other spot on the panel - Spice Girls star Mel B.
He added: 'I like Mel B. We’ve got about a month to decide and we’re meeting a lot of people. A lot of it actually depends on how much work they are willing to put in during the week.'
It remains to be seen just how feisty Mel would get on with the always outspoken Cheryl.
While Simon and Cheryl are both confirmed to take their seats at the X Factor judges' table this year, the remaining two spots have yet to be announced.
And despite claims that Cheryl was keen for Louis Walsh not to take up one of the spare places, Simon is keen to see the return of his right-hand man.
He told The Sun's Colin Robertson: 'I’d find it difficult to do the show without Louis.
'I tried it without him once and it didn't work. He does make a long day fun.
'I hope I don't have to talk ITV round. After ten years, he deserves a spot.'

However, Simon previously revealed that Cheryl would have a say on her fellow judges, admitting: 'We've spoken to people but we did agree when Cheryl agreed to come back on the show that we would agree together.

Auditions for The X Factor kick off in Plymouth on Wednesday, before visiting more than 40 towns and cities throughout the UK to find the next big thing.

Minogue, who was pictured looking slim in a short, multi-coloured dress arriving to X Factor auditions in Sydney on Wednesday, was clearly taken aback by the question and replied, 'Only you would ask that, wouldn't you?'

The 25-year-old was found dead at home in Kent on Monday afternoon and her sister Pixie, 23, a close pal of Nick and Alexa, flew straight back to the UK to be with her family.
Pixie is currently at her father Bob Geldof’s house in London and will not be attending this year's Coachella festival. Alexa, too, has cancelled her plans so she can be on hand to comfort her friend.

The weekend festival is due to kick off on April 11. Alexa has also cancelled a DJing gig for Jimmy Choo, as well as other activity, including a friend's hen night to be by Pixie's side.
