FFG Travels: Farmer's Daughter Hotel, Los Angeles

Farmer's Daughter Hotel, Los Angeles
People headed to Los Angeles, allow me to introduce you to one of the most conveniently located hotels in the area- Farmer's Daughter Hotel. This place is just across the street from the biggest shopping destination in Los Angles, just down the street from some of my favorite eateries in the Los Angeles area, and also just happens to serve one of the funnest brunchest in town. Read on, dear adventurer...

So I'll keep this simple, in honor of the hotel's general vibe - cheap and cheerful. From the minute you step into Farmer's Daughter Hotel you feel chill and hipster. Oh yeah, it's "so LA." There are chips and refreshments at the reception desk as you wait to check in, which doesn't take long, and a cute gift shop just in front of you offering booty shorts with sexual innuendos on the rear end. Feeling the hipster part yet? If you aren't quite there yet, round the corner to discover the Art-o-Matic. I haven't seen one of these in years - it's a vending machine the serves up art. Yeah - crazy.

So that's the first floor. As we make our way up to our rooms, we find a great (somewhat mini) pool below us with some giant rub-a-dub ducks floating in the crisp blue water. Wait, are the ducks huge or is the pool that small? Hard to tell. I have heard, however, that should you choose to jump in that pool, with all your friends at brunch, you get a discount on your meal. But, let me introduce you to the room before we get to the food at Farmer's Daughter.

The rooms here are cheap and cheerful. I'll say this - for the space they are using, they have put together a great layout. You feel like they are packing a lot into one room. Thumbs up there, people of Farmer's Daughter. You won't feel at all claustrophobic, but you may have to check and make sure you are carrying your "hipster" card before you step over the threshold. Yes, this is most definitely a room designed for a certain crowd of people - mostly fun, young, arty and cool. So what the hell was I doing there? Well, I like to dabble in playing 25 and cool. Not sure I pull it off, but I'm continuously trying.

Now, onto that subject of food at Farmer's Daughter Hotel. Well, they have a great restaurant on site called Tart. I've been hearing about this place for a while - mostly from friends who brunch there regularly on Sundays. I really only need to say one thing -bottomless bloody marks (and mimosas too). This is a thing of danger. Have uber on standby! And here's a perk of being a hotel guest - there's a whole cabana club reserved just for you. So what if there are 20 people standing in line? Flash the cool card (aka your room key) and you're instantly feeling like an A-lister. Nice touch.

When you do sit down, do me a favour and order the following. If you're there for the breakfast part of brunch, order the BTA Benedict (all pics below) - it's all about bacon and avocado for a twist on the traditional Eggs Benedict!  If you're feeling more in the mood for lunch, and something to help with keeping the bloody marys stable, opt for the steak salad. It's my new obsession.

In short, if you're staying or eating at Farmer's Daughter Hotel, add it to the to-do list in Los Angeles. You won't regret it.
