Dry Shampoo for your Gym Bag

Colab Active Dry Shampoo*

Colab is a brand thats been lurking around for a good ol' while now and Im not actually sure if I've spoken about it on here or not. Created by the absolutely wonderful Ruth Crilly - it's a range of dry shampoo's that you can pick up at your local drugstore that's good enough to rival the iconic Batiste.

Touted as a gym bag must have, the Colab Active is a must for those of us on the go, outdoorsy types and sporty babes. Who am I kidding, I am none of the above.

This Active version shampoo is the same formula as the original Sheer and Invisible but with Moringa Seed Extract to condition and offers UV protection for your barnet. I find the power of the Colab Dry Shampoo's to be super fine and almost invisible in the hair, you know that sort of white cast that Batiste gives? Yeah it doesn't do that. Thumbs up.

I friggen' love the scent, it's a little bit lemon-y, bergamot and neroli-ish paired with amber and a complimentary musky undertone. Which sounds super fancy for a dry shampoo, but it's a very chic and fresh fragrance. Ideal product for pepping up greasy locks and with it's super duper oil absorbing properties it's like dry shampoo on steroids!

A little tip that I read over on Ruth's blog is to spray it in before you workout and then brush it out after you've finished working out and then reapplying it again just to make sure it feels super clean. Thats a tip I think I might start trying on days that I dont wash my hair, spraying in dry shampoo the night before and then brushing it out in morning! I actually used this technique when I went on Holiday last week because I knew I was going to be getting my sweat on - it was 40C at some points!
In the morning before I stepped out into the sun I'd liberally spritz my hair with the product and let it go to work. I found my hair overall less sweaty and less hard to manage. Of course I still washed my hair on those days as it was REALLY hot. But I was impressed how less slick and sweaty my hair felt throughout the day.

2 Shower Gels to get you going in the Morning

Hands up who hates mornings? *insert hand up emoji*

Nothing really gets me going in the morning (well apart from a strong coffee or seven) is a zesty energising shower gel. I need something that strips away all the sleepiness from my body and sets me up for the day. Now Im not promising miracles here, I can only speak from my own experience - but I can promise a little bit of spring in your step post shower.

LUSH HAPPY HIPPY

This is one of my ol' favourites, especially on mornings when you really CBA. Grapefruit really gets the senses going and brightens up even the dullest of mornings and this has even been known to ease a hangover or two. Zingy and Invigorating with a underlying zesty fragrance that really wakes me up.

SOAP AND GLORY SUGAR CRUSH JELLY

Super Sweet Lime flavoured and packed full of something they like to call Coolcapsule Smooth (srsly wtf are these beauty buzzwords) Sugar Crush this shower gel provides a mood boosting dose of sweetness and sugar to really get things pumping. Sugar Crush has always been a polarising scent for me due to it's almost overwhelming sweetness but there is no doubting that it packs a bunch. It's . I also like that it lingers a bit on the skin, or you could be extra fancy and finish off with some of their body butter to really pack a punch.

Style Update: Oversized with a pop of colour

Two style weaknesses come into play here - oversized and colour! If there was ever a recipe I use more than anything else for smash and grab outfits, this is it right here.

You can't go wrong with a simple white shirt, a favorite pair of jeans and some colourific accessories. It's a combo created for success and I can't stress this enough when you find yourself in a "what the hell do I wear?" scenario. Always keep a pressed white shirt to hand and a clean pair of jeans. They will save you every day of the year. The accessories I leave up to you. The bolder the better, in my humble opinion. But then again, I'm 6'2 so I'm used to standing out. What's a bit more neon to sweeten the attention?

What I'm wearing?

Video: A Four Seasons Safari

Yes, yes, I've written about the whole experience of the Four Seasons Serengeti, and I still do believe that sometimes I'm able to capture in words so much more than I can capture in video. But for this experience, I think seeing things in motion is just as important as reading my love letter to one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had.

Over the course of four days, I captured over 2 hours of video clips. Two hours, people! I narrowed it down to a half hour video, then a twenty minute video and then finally a four minute moment, with three extra minutes devoted to snapchat recaps. The result goes a little something like this...

DIY: The Dream S'Mores Summer Party

 S'Mores Summer Party
 S'Mores Summer Party
While I'm all for the average BYOB night this summer, I'm thinking outside the box when it comes to fresh party ideas and I'm positively in love with the idea of flashing back to the good ole days. Today, I'm in a camper's mindset. Remember those nights around the campfire, wooden stick in hand and marshmallow roasting? Those were the days, the easy summer days when all you had to worry about was heading back to school in September. And yes, I'd like to flashback there, and as often as humanly possible. So this summer party idea is a grown up version of summer camp, with a twist.

Introducing the "Dream S'mores Summer Party."

Everyone loves a classic s'more. Who wouldn't love the chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker combo? But have you ever considered thinking outside the box? Last night I held my first Dream S'mores Summer party and I must say it was an absolute success. Here's the concept:

Invite all your nearest and dearest for a night in and specify the need to bring your own ingredients. Ask them to bring sweet treats. This can range from brownies to a box of chocolates. Say nothing else. Upon arrival, hand over some spiked fruit punch (remember, this is flashback to camp) and name the game. This is a night of transformation, of thinking bigger and bolder. The ingredients brought by guests will be used to create the classic s'mores combo in a contemporary way. There will be winners, there will be losers, but sure as anything else there will be loads of laughs.

There are two options for creation. You can keep your party indoors and use the microwave or stove for melting the marshmallow, or, if you're lucky enough to have one, gather outside around the fire for a more authentic experience. After each and every s'more is made, place the creations on a long table and give everyone a fork. Dig in and judge the winner! The rest is up to you... but, here are a few ideas from our night of fun:

Prime & Protect in One Step

Dr Murad's Invisblur Perfecting Shield £55-£65.50ml*

Looking through my stockpile of beauty stuff for potential summer wins and fails to talk about on the blog and I came across bottle of primer come SPF by Dr Murad and thought I'd slap it on and give it a whirl.

As any self respecting beauty junkie should know. SPF is Queen. Number 1 beauty rule is to always wear SPF, even if its not sunny you should wear it everyday. It protects your skin from the elements and also helps reduce signs aging. But how many of us actually do that? Not me, even though I kid myself that I do it but often I don't or frankly... cant be bothered.

Dr Murad's Invisblur Perfecting Shield is like a gift from the skincare Gods. It's come down to grace my sensitive skin with a smoother looking face, plus and the added benefit of having a nice SPF 30 rating. It's not greasy, pore clogging or heavy on the face, just smoothing and sort of hydrating at the same time. Basically it's a primer, and SPF in one - who wouldn't want that! It's velvety smooth goodness!

Im picky about facial SPF's and have been using Benefit Dream Screen for as long as I can remember but this is the new 'ting has really changed the game. Worn alone for that sort of faux blurred out skin look or worn under your favourite foundation it keeps the skin looking fresh, protected and hydrated all day long.

Downside? Of course there got to be a downside. It retails for £55.00 - £69.50, 30ml and 50ml respectively which is pretty pricey even for a skincare product. However it is a two in one and has anti-aging properties and you can put a price on being youthful. But in all seriousness this is a pretty awesome product and definitely worth trying if you're in the market for a new facial SPF and want the added bonus of it being a primer too!

Style Update: A Lightning Bolt of Style Inspiration

Tabitha Webb cashmere
Yes, I do feel this should act as a serious lightning bolt of action for people obsessed with cashmere. You need to be in on all things Tabitha Webb. Mark my words... big things to come here, but can't say anything else at this moment in time. God, I hate when people do that. Sorry, I've just become "those people."

Anywho, this is a piece that's available to buy from Tabitha Webb now. The bolt sweater has been one of the best sellers of the season. It might have something to do with the fact that the cashmere is the that perfect weight which can be worn in summer and winter alike. It's also not your average boring cashmere grey jumper. This a neon statement that can hold court with the best of them. Needless to say, I'm obsessed. Consider your formal introduction complete!

FFG Travels: Four Seasons Serengeti, Tanzania Safari Lodge

Four Seasons Serengeti, Tanzania
Four Seasons Serengeti, Tanzania
"Excuse me, sir, when do the elephants arrive?" This is the moment I came up with the hashtag #fivestarproblems. We were sitting by the pool at The Four Seasons Serengeti and a guest, who had just checked in, was eager to witness the arrival of the famous elephants at the Four Seasons Watering Hole. The waiter informed the guest that the television screen in her room would alert her when the elephants were approaching the pool. But alas, the guest in question would not have to wait long. Before the beautiful and gracious waiter could finish his sentence, a line of elephants emerged, stage left, as if the Four Seasons had gotten the memo that a guest was unhappy with some element of their trip. This is the Four Seasons way, of course- no one is ever allowed to have #fivestarproblems. They just don't exist here. The woman's face said it all as she witnessed these beautiful creatures emerging from the plains of the Serengeti. In fact it made me chuckle, as just days before, upon my arrival, I'm pretty sure I made the same exact face. You can always spot the newcomers at the Four Seasons Serengeti. There is a magic here that presents itself in such a way that, as humans, we are unable to mask our disbelief.

For four nights I called The Four Seasons Serengeti home. Of course this was no home I'd ever expected to have in my lifetime. If you had told me when I was a young one that I'd be resting my head at night here on a balcony - with open access to the Serengeti, an infiniti pool's lapping water lulling me to sleep and stars so bright I was sure Africa had some special arrangement with the heavens - I would have told you to keep dreaming those big dreams.

During the daylight hours we began by fueling, with a monstrous buffet breakfast at the Four Seasons, and followed with safari. Most days we were enjoying our mission to see Africa's big five - Lions, Rhinos, Elephants, Buffalos and Leopards - from the back of a quite luxurious Safari vehicle, complete with a beverage fridge and snacks galore. Our safari was not without adventure. We got so close to a lion lounging in a tree that you could count the hairs sprouting from between its toes. On the same day, we watched a different lion eating her breakfast. She was on a raw diet - raw Zebra that is. We even met the world's bravest hippo - a bloke so sure of himself, he walked right through a pride of hungry lions at lunchtime and lived to tell the tale. Can you say cojones?

In the afternoons we savoured the remaining daylight by the pool at The Four Seasons Serengeti. While the view of the elephants drinking and bathing themselves in front of our pool was spectacular, it really was the view of the open Serengeti that made this whole scene so magical and, at some moments, truly unbelievable. The waiters who helped us day in and day out remembered every drink order, every coffee preference and what times we seemed to prefer one or the other. They seemed to know our minds better than we knew them ourselves by the end of the four days in residence.

The evenings at The Four Seasons Serengeti were some of the most magical moments. Our first night we enjoyed dinner in the Boma Grill, where guests take part in an authentic African feast and the Masai showcase traditional dancing for one and all in attendance. The second night we were taken off property to enjoy dinner in the bush. This, folks, was a favourite moment, if I had to choose just one. We had champagne and appetizers atop a rocky hill that had beautiful views of the Serengeti sunset. Dinner was then served next to a roaring fire and lit with candles, with accompanying light streaming down from a lantern lit tree. We were quite literally in the middle of the wild. Food was served while men with the appropriate weapons stood guard. I suppose one wouldn't want to be eating delicious smelling food in the middle of the Serengeti without protection on hand. On our third night we were entertained in Four Seasons Serengeti Villa and on our final night in residence we ate pool-side at the Maji Bar and Terrace. In short- food here is plentiful and delicious. You will be spoilt for choice, which was a pleasant surprise for a resort literally in the middle of nowhere. This is five star living at its finest and well worth the amount of travel hours it took to get there in the first place - a tale for another time.

There wasn't a moment I'd change, a rarity for me these days as I get older and pickier. The whole trip was one gigantic pinch-me moment and I couldn't help but feel this was a world created for luxury adventure. It's only now, stepping away from it all, that I've seen that the real luxury was in being able to enjoy this land as it is. It's not something that's been manufactured for tourism. It's not a world where the animals are managed and the plants are well manicured and kept under control. This is the true wild world that is left open for us all to explore. Sure, there's a five star resort in the middle of it all that, as strange as it sounds, somewhat grounds you at the end of the day and reminds you of the world you come from. But, as the Masai warrior leads you back to your room every night, while you are tired and a little overcome with emotion from the day, you feel as if you are exactly in the place you are meant to be. You lose all perspective on how you got there, but you feel safe, lucky to be alive and eager to experience it all over again the next day. And then, you find yourself boarding a plane to leave and you have an ache in your heart that feels entirely new. For me, I had discovered a whole new beautiful land that captured my imagination, my heart and my future. I will be back and I will return to The Four Seasons Serengeti with the next generation. This is something that everyone, who is able, should experience. And my dream is to relive it all one day with a son or daughter by my side.
