After spending five days on the ground at London Fashion Week, I can say with complete confidence that London ladies are in for a style treat – flats are back. Not that they ever went away, mind you. But when the ladies on the front row of all the catwalks have officially turned their high heels in for some more sensible (and stylish) footwear, the general public takes notice.
If you were following me on social media over the course of the five days, you will have noticed that I upped sticks and moved over to the Butterfly Twists social accounts to bring news straight from the front lines of fashion. I was, naturally, also wearing Butterfly Twists for my fashion front row experience. When in Rome, right? (or something like that) I was surprised to see that more often than not, my flats seemed to reflect what was being presented on the catwalk for trends. A ha! An idea was born. I started taking notes to see which designers were aligned, trend wise, with the styles that Butterfly Twists were featuring for the present season. And so here we are today and I’m showcasing my favourite looks from the brand, alongside the designers from LFW who reflected the aesthetic perfectly with their own runway shows for SS16. Complete coincidence? Maybe. But I’m taking it as a sign that these friends to our feet are ahead of the pack when it comes to providing for our working wardrobes.
Here’s a look at some of the trends from London Fashion Week SS16 and the flats you can buy now to be ahead of the curve entirely.
Let's kick off with the monochromatic vibe, seen at London Fashion Week at Burberry, Christopher Raeburn, Daks and David Koma. Loving the monochromatic vibe for the season? Than the Black and Cream Olivia Ballet Pumps are your go-to fashion shoe.
Fashion week also showcased a number of embellishments for the season - some subtle and others right in your face. This was seen at Antonio Berardi, Gareth Pugh, Giles and Julien MacDonald. If this style's more your speed, go for the Zara Ballet Pumps.

Here's the thing - stripes never ever go out of style. So buying into this trend is buying into a lifetime of fashion happiness. LFW showcased stripes on catwalks from J.JS Lee, Joseph, Markus Lupfer and Peter Jensen. If you are loving it, try the Kate Ballet Stripes Pump.
Neutrals are an easy win for the season and were seen on Osman, Marques Almeida, Phoebe English and 1205 catwalks. This trend also matches with my favourite pair of Butterfly Twists - the Lexi Ballet Pumps!
Last, but certainly not least, we saw Polka Dots all over the catwalks this season. Brands such as Topshop, Peter Jensen, Paul Smith and Sibling, all showcased a lineup that's definitely in favour of the dot, polka dot that is. Wear this trend now with the Black & White Dots Kate Pump.
There you have it folks - an opportunity to wear a season ahead of a season. Done and dusted. Or is it?
The good folks over at Butterfly Twists have actually given me the chance to give away a pair of the shoes to one lucky FFG reader. All you need to do is retweet the tweet below, mention your favourite style and follow Butterfly Twists. You do not want to miss this!!! Winner will be announced later next week!
